A.C. many of us would love to use your site to book hotels if possible. As others have said, the primary problem is the hotel rates. We can't seem to get the same low rates that we find on booking.com and hotels.com (and others) using the Kayak search engine. In addition, sites like hotels.com gives you the total price, including all taxes and fees so when you book and pay you don't have to worry about any extra surprises when you get the bill.

Grisher is incorrect, while there are many hotels that will price match not all of them do and we have to take an extra step to find out which hotels will price match. Easier to just book the room already.

There are many good reasons to book directly with the hotel. One is that we don't have to pay upfront, with hotels.com we have to pay everything upfront. Another is cancelling a reservation. While cancelling isn't very difficult, when we do cancel we have to wait until the charge is backed out. Booking directly with the hotel we don't pay for our stay (the hotel possibly just charges for the first night) until we actually stay there and can cancel without having to worry if our booking got reversed and we got credited for our cancellation.

As someone else said, when booking through the hotel we can also get their coupon booklets. booking through third party sites we may not get the same perks as someone who made their reservation directly through the hotel.

Anyway, if your site could get the same rates as those offerred through sites like booking.com or hotels.com we would rather use your site to book directly with the hotel but until then we will probably use the kayak engines along with looking at your site to see who has the best rates.

hope this helps.

We check all the time. I don't think the rates on these sites are better than what we're getting. Does anyone have an example that shows this to be wrong?

Sure, I can give you an example that I just found now. booking.com has the el cortez vintage rooms for a March 12 - 18 stay (6 nights) at $102 not including 13% tax. With tax the cost came out to $115.26.
Through your site the same vintage rooms for the same dates shows a total cost of $200.71, a whopping $85.45 difference in price. I think the problem is that the I4vegas site may be a little slow in updating their prices compared to some of the other sites.

I had already booked through hotels.com. I called them a few minutes ago and they instantly verified the price match and changed my reservation cost to the $115.26 and gave me a credit since I paid almost $50 more.

I think that many people feel comfortable with kayak since it covers hotels, air and car rentals, we can check them all out in one site without having to navigate between different sites. I think when they get more comfortable with your site they will probably use your site more for bookings.

One thing, I was checking out your hotel search page (I went to hotels and casinos, then deals, then entered dates and nights). Because I check for prices can you add a feature that can sort your starting prices from low to high? That way I can see all the deals starting at the lowest rates and up.

I do the same with rental cars - I book and rebook and get the best rate. I do my homework and save quite a bit, but if convenience is a priority then do your own thing and pay more. I enjoy getting the most for my money so I have more cash to gamble with!

Grish, in my case I usually use kayak to check on prices for hotels and also rental cars and even air fare. Actually I check out the site, then go to the airline/hotel/rental car site to get their prices. usually for air fare their rates are the same as what's on kayak. For hotels they usually direct me to sites like hotels.com and booking.com and I book and rebook/cancel through that site. Because I mostly stay downtown there aren't many hotels that price match so I don't even bother calling the hotel or check out the hotel web site to see if they price match since I already checked out the downtown hotel sites for price matching.

I think with you, you also have your fav hotels and know if they price match so it's easier for you to just go to the hotel web sites. No problem, everyone has their own way of making reservations and checking out room rates, whatever works best for you right?

makikiboy, When we launch our new system the search feature will be enhanced and will include sorting the deals from low to high.

Another thing to note, is that when we don't have an offered promotion for the hotel you are looking for, we will direct you to i4vegas as their search is easy to use for default rates. We have not done extensive comparing of i4vegas rates to other booking engines (the el cortez example given above). At this time we are not offering specials/promotions with i4vegas. I will look into this and see how it can be improved.

We really appreciate everyones feedback and will try to include as many of the suggestions as possible into the new system. We do not have an eta on this yet, but we made a lot of progress this week, so it shouldn't be much longer.

Keep the comments going! Thanks again!
thanks for your response. It seems that some of these search sites (like booking.com) seem to get a jump on deals. I noticed on kayak for that particular el cortez search that booking.com has $17 a night rates but all that the other sites like hotels.com and others have their rates at $28 a night or more for the same stay, comparable to your rates. None of the other sites dropped their rates to the $17 a night booking.com rate (although hotels.com allowed a price match credit) so maybe something is going on with booking.com that allows them the lower rates with hotels. Not sure how you can get the same discounted rates unless you have a similar deal like booking.com (whatever they did to get the lowest rates).

Another suggestion: It seems like a lot of navigating to get to search for hotel rates. In your hotels and casinos page you show LV hotel deals on the left side, but can you also put in an (I4vegas) hotel/room rate search on the page? that way we don't have to keep navigating to get to the site to do our search for a particular time period. Your other topics (latest deals/promotions, casino list, hotel list, green hotel guide, etc.) are good but many of us want to just go from your site to search for a hotel/room rate search. Just a suggestion.

makikiboy, Thank you so much for this feedback, we love it. You seem to really understand these systems better than most. Would you be interested in previewing our beta site before we launch it? Same goes for others who have commented in this thread. Please send me an email to [email protected] I will get back to you within a week or so with a link to the beta site. It is coming along great and we are hoping to have it live within a month.
Right, we don't have codes yet for the El Cortez, so we default. We will, though (just met with them). Agree that this feedback is very valuable.
For me the cancellation fee or lack thereof is the most important issue. When I book directly through the hotel property or when I book through another 3rd party website such as hotels.com I like to be able to cancel just in case something comes up and I need to change my plans but I don't want to be charged a cancellation fee. The actual price of the hotel room is important as well but what is more important to me is being able to cancel without being charged a cancellation fee. I would even rather pay a little more for a hotel room knowing that I could cancel without paying the penalty.

sure, I can help out beta testing your new site. I just pm'd my email to you. actually maybe you should just post the site in a new thread and people who get on to lva can check it out and test it out and give feed back. this way the people who will probably be looking and using the site will be able to tell you what they prefer and want in sites.

actually I know about many sites because I was looking for rooms/cars/air for my trip next month and used the same searches in my previous trips. because I'm a tightwad (lol) I usually regularly check different sites so I can get the lowest rates for my trip.

good luck with your site.

AC, I figured that booking.com had some kind of deal with hotels like the el cortez because none of the other sites could give those discounted rates. guess that's why I look at multiple sites to find the best prices.
