Brandon Flowers speaks out for Valet Workers

This is an article from the Review Journal. He is not happy about the valet workers getting screwed.

Valet Parking
I spoke with the Valet Supervisor at an MGM property last weekend. The valets are being bankrupted. Dramatic drop in the number of people using the Valet and a big drop in the tip amount. Double whammy. Income cut in half.
Now that casinos are making more money,it should trickle back down to the valet workers!
Boy,I would be angry as well.
Those people have to stay in shape. I have never seen an overweight valet worker.
I see them RUN!
It is a nice gesture, but in our rigged system people will never trump profits.

He says their salaries aren't going up. I thought valets were mostly minimum wage workers who made a ton of money in tips. So its more an issue of people using the valet less.

The casinos can only get away with this if customers let them. If their business suffers from boycotters they'll put free parking back in a heartbeat. Apparently that's not happening, though.

.
Also the ones who still use the valet are tipping less...since they have to pay $18 for parking overnight instead of 0.

That or superior competition who doesn't charge for parking.

I read MGM Resorts has now lowered their pours on paid alcohol drinks from 1.5oz to 1.25 oz. They then issued a BS statement that they were offering the best drinks by staying with the industry average.
Ounce and a quarter is still above average. Standard drink in NY and Ft Lauderdale is one ounce. Sucks that they went from one and a half to one and a quarter, but they are still above the average.
Bar pricing is generally done assuming one ounce per drink.
Once again, billryan does not get it- roulette man was not talking about NY or FtLauderdale, he was talking about Vegas. Leave it to an ignorant liberal to bring inane info to a specific topic.

"You can't handle the truth." Quoting from A Few Good Men, in case nobody saw it.

Someone posts a fact but gets slammed for it.

Bill didn't side with the parking thing, not here at least. He merely stated a community standard concerning drink pour amounts. Fact, interesting. I'll take facts over emotion any day.
