Breaking news!! Singer drops his escrow demand!

I play BJ & craps. I have never read a book on either and do quite well. I learned by doing.
I think most of the gambling books out there are scams. You can get the same info for free off the net.
Why does anyone "sell" their system as opposed to making money gambling the way they are selling?

Money, our opinions differ on this, and I fully support your right to your own opinion no matter how wrong it may be. But I am sincerely trying to help you with this post.

In business every decision carries a bit of risk and reward. A successful businessman weighs the potential risks with the potential reward in order to make a correct decision to strengthen and grows their business.

You choose to promote Singer. You do say his ideas are controversial. You do show how his plays go against proper strategy and the potential cost. You also provide a link where people can buy his book. By doing so you may not specifically endorse Singer, but just providing his information on your "Best Buys" website could give your followers the implied impression that your are supporting his ideas and products (book).

What's the risk of promoting Singer on your website? One is that people may suffer financial loses and blame you. Another is that people may realize Singer is a bad product and begin to question your other recommendations. A big risk is that existing and potential clients may not want to do business with you because of your associations fearing that they, too, would be tarnished by association.

What's the reward of promoting Singer on your website? Do you get a cut of the book sales? Does it drive additional traffic to your website to generate ad revenue? Does it inspire potential clients to do business with you?

Is the reward worth the risks?

KayPea,

The business calculation must be that there are enough dullards and dimwits looking for shortcuts to market junk to so why not take advantage of them. It is the P.T. Barnum approach.

Producing something of real value and selling to smart consumers takes a lot more effort. It also requires integrity and a desire to cater to your customers needs.

Giving Mendelson and Singer credit for making such a sly business calculation may be going a bit too far though. More likely, Singer is a con-man nut-job immersed in his addictions and Mendelson is a dim bulb rube.
More and safer money in publishing.
Money, you are bringing up this site and Dancer's site. A consumer might expect to find gambling books on a Las Vegas site, and would definitely expect to find something on Dancer's site.

You are a trusted consumer reporter who now has a web site for consumers to find shopping bargains. I've watched you for years, when your reports were on at lunch time on KCAL news. You are in the business of earning people's trust and goodwill, which I believe you have from the past. I think you run a tremendous risk talking about any gambling system, especially controversial ones on your site.

I'm in a business where independence is essential and if there is even the slightest hint that I'm not independent on an engagement, I can run into trouble, due to perceived conflict of interest.

Even if you put in disclaimers that you don't necessarily endorse or support any gambling book author or system seller, you carry enough good will and credibility where some of your readers may go ahead and buy the system because you are providing a link to it on your site.

You just need one really bad story or bit of publicity to emerge and your reputation is gone forever. Is it really worth it?

Singer is in a win/lose situation. He wins, because you do carry credibility from your past, and your name and site help to add credibility to selling his system. You lose, because if someone loses money they can't afford to lose from buying Singer's system and claims that he or she bought it solely because of you, then you may suffer very negative publicity.

This. Many of us in the gambling world have long ago formed our opinions of that crackpot, and I would without a doubt dismiss any product (website, TV show, etc.) that associates itself with him.

Well said Knagl. I think most here have already chosen to disassociate with that best buy site. Even with all the deep rooted hatred that many have towards RS...more people are realizing that he can say whatever he wants over there, in hopes, to try to grab more attention for himself.

We are smart enough to know that we can just ignore him, and that really gets to him.

I bet Singer and Money are carrying some fine conversations amongst themselves on the message board over there. LOL

That is where they should stay! They'll always have each other.

It was a bad business decision buster! Oh well...live and learn.

Let's talk about Girls.......... You see the jugs on Selena Gomez?..........
thanks Roulette Man, I appreciate your comments and concern. Legal gambling is a big business in America and here in California. Advertisements from casinos and even poker schools dominate our TV and radio stations here. I can't listen to a radio station for longer than five minutes without hearing a commercial for Pechanga or Commerce or Hustler or Valley View or Rincon or another casino... OR the many Vegas casinos. Every TV station in Los Angeles will cover every casino operning in Vegas-- its seems to be "standard operating procedure" and when poker was booming a few years ago my own news director made me-- the business reporter-- the "poker reporter" and I was doing stories on the World Poker Tour (headquartered here in LA) and all sorts of stories about online poker, poker schools, and of course the growth the California casinos. I also went to the global gaming expo for several years in a row to report on the new slot machines, new games, new devices being introduced. Thats how I got a head start on RFID.

Now it appears that some people are making a judgment call on what is "valid gambling info" and what is not. I think Singer's info deserves some attention. I think some of it is valid. He is giving the info without strings attached. While he does sell a book, so do other "experts." He was not paid by me for the interviews or for the hours of work that went into the preparation of the videos and text on my website. Yes, there is a link to order his book but I have links for other authors and other books and other businesses. The Internet is supposed to be a place for the free flow of information. I really wonder if the opposition to presenting Singer's strategies is more about Singer the person who has angered others with his personal fights and uncalled-for attacks, than Singer the player?

Read the FU*K*N article ..............
Arc wrote about my interest in interviewing other VP authors: "These are not "their" strategies. They are strategies dictated by math. They have been around longer than either of the men mentioned. As for watching a video tape ... boring."

Perhaps boring to you, but to the millions of video poker players across America these books become their Bibles. And some of my videos have been viewed more than a hundred thousand times on the web, not only on YouTube but on other sites that have put the original videos on their sites. Here's an offer you shouldnt refuse, Arc. Im fascinated by your history of winning years, admittedly paying taxes on your wins, and your devotion to the math and how it has served you well. Why don't you write your own story? I'd love to feature it as an example about how long term discipline can make money in a casino. I think your story is about how a low level gambler can supplement his income. Most of the books are about the "big boys" so explaining how a low level gambler can make money is extraordinary. I'd love to do an interview with you (warning: we use high def cameras) and who knows, you might be the next Dancer.
