Bringing Cuban Cigars into U.S.

Talk to anyone who has visited Cuba, and they will tell you that Cubans are the friendliest people on this planet.

This ridiculous economic embargo against Cuba has got to stop NOW!

I was born in Cuba, I know what I am talking about, Miami anti-Castro Cubans are full of shit.

The Cuban government is not perfect by any means, but it sure beats the hell out of what came before.

The Mafia was on the verge of taking over Cuba and turning into a huge casino. Castro put a stop to that.

I guess Las Vegas should thank Mr. Castro!

Ahh, . . . . the Mafia. DonDiego has heard that the Mafia used to know how to entertain a guy, . . . Las Vegas back in the day - BBC (Before Bean Counters).
And in Havana - BC (Before Castro).

Ahh, well, . . .
At least President Obama still has a friend in Venezuela.

If the Castro dictatorship is/was so desirable, why weren't there any floatillas going from Florida to Cuba in the last 50 years? Such an island paradise would surely be a magnet for people seeking more freedom and a better life.

I did not say it was desirable, I said it is better for the average Cuban than what came before, the unbeleivable cruelty and corruption of the Batista regime. The Cubans that fled to Miami were, for the most part, the priviliged upper class (my family included) that had reason to fear the changes that Castro was bringing.

Suggested reading: "Havana Nocturne" (the author escapes me), about the unimaginable corruption of the Batista regime, and how the mob nearly took over Cuba.

Google cuban human rights violations you get over 2 million hits.

The government continued to deny its citizens their basic human rights, including the right to change their government, and committed numerous and serious abuses. The following human rights problems were reported: beatings and abuse of prisoners and detainees, harsh and life-threatening prison conditions, including denial of medical care; harassment, beatings, and threats against political opponents by government recruited mobs, police, and state security officials acting with impunity; arbitrary arrest and detention of human rights advocates and members of independent professional organizations; and denial of fair trial, including for at least 194 political prisoners and as many as 5,000 persons who have been convicted of potential "dangerousness" without being charged with any specific crime.

Internet access is severely limited to citizens. Average income is around $12 per month and the overall economy has not recovered from the early 90's when Soviet financial support was removed. General consumer goods do not exist.

The mob also controlled Vegas in the 50's & 60's but eventually lost control without anybody overthrowing the Nevada govt

All that and more went on under Batista, too. See my previous post for suggested reading and come back when you know a little bit more about pre-Castro Cuban history. You may have gotten your information from Google, but I lived it.

The revolution was in 1959 or 52 years ago. So to have a cognitive understanding of the situtation you would have to have been around 15, which makes you about 67. Based on prior posts you don't seem that old

I was 10 when I left Cuba in May of 1961. I turn 60 on November 29 of this year. My cognitive understanding abilities came to me early, thank you Jesus, Joseph and Mary, God between us and evil.

I heartily congratulate you on your uncanny ability to calculate the age of posters based on their prior posts. It is a skill that I hope to master someday.
