Broke millenial student

Completely amazing she wants to blame her parents for going through 90K. I will say she made it through to her Jr. year, I knew people who probably would've never made it to their Jr. year.

22-year-old college student blows her $90,000 college fund and blames her parents

“Maybe they should have taught me to budget or something."

"...came to the three hosts with a confession: in just short three years she had managed to blow through a $90,000 college fund left to her by her grandparents. Kim has one year left of school and no way to cover her remaining $20,000 tuition balance.."
"..But what followed has to be one of the most painful interviews that has ever been aired on national radio. Kim manages to personify just about every parent’s worst nightmare — an entitled 20-something who asks for handouts rather than face the very real financial challenges of young adulthood.."
"..I used it to budget for school clothes and college break money. I probably should have not done that. I took a trip to Europe. The Europe thing I thought was part of my education and that’s how I tried to justify that."

“[My parents] said there was nothing they could do for me. They’re not being honest with me saying they don't have [money] because my dad has worked for like a million years and they have a retirement account.”

How has she not been read the riot act? She better be good looking, because she is going to have a hard time in life.
She is just another of our "future leaders" who knows nothing about handling money or personal responsibility, but she knows how to play the"blame game". A perfect Democrat voter....
We had a millennial who I tried to talk into investing in a 401(k) program. Her comment was "My roommate says you have to live for today.". I told her that her roommate was an idiot.

The grandparents should have put the money in a trust with specific instructions that it was to go towards tuition, and maybe books. Most young 20 somethings are not responsible with money.

Yea..weren't there some who touted that this is the best generation, that the past baby boomers and before were the clueless ones? Yea...I think I remember that. I will disagree.
I would encourage my new/younger employees to contribute the maximum into the TSP for better income at retirement, especially since their contributions were matched. They mostly poo pooed the concept, only had the mandatory minimum withheld. Their priorities are the latest cell phones and TVs and vacations and anything else they wanted.

So stupid.
Just one more Obama fan.

Definitely not very bright. The absolute best savings a person can do, even if employer match is only 25%, can't get that anywhere else.

I have to say, I have the beaming father thing going on right now. My son has watched me investing/trading since he was 10(and was always pretty interested). He just moved out in Jan. and has already made mgr. at his AAmco AND opened a TD acct. with a hundred bucks. He bought fitbit, which has done well. It's only a hundred bucks but he's learned the value of investing, especially at an early age.

Smilin' dad!
They're going to die from global warming anyway sooo.....What difference – at this point, what difference does it make?

Celebrate! For tomorrow we all may die!

Isn't that the basic point of arithmetic. You have 3 apples, and you eat 7. How many apples do you have left?
