Budget breakfast buffets -- Terrible's OK, IP not so much

A very long time ago when my wife and I were still quite new to Vegas, we took a "Cheap" winter trip and stayed at the Sahara (RIP). We went to the champagne brunch there and I believe this was our first Vegas buffet. At the time we were thinking the food wasn't too bad. The champagne in the little plastic cups...was awful. Many, many trips later with even more buffet meals we now realize how bad the Sahara buffet really was - and we were eating mainly breakfast foods which is typically difficult to screw up.

From all that I've read throughout the years, I don't think we'd ever try IP. Other "Cheap" places? Probably. Anymore, we're pretty regulated to breakfast buffets only as we've never been thrilled with any dinner buffets for the price that is asked. But we will go to Lawrys each trip and for us it's a great value for the money.
A little off subject, but still breakfast related. I drove by an establishment the other day and they were advertising, " Mornings Start At midnight "

Where is Makikiboy when you need him? If he thought ChipChick's comments were offensive since he is Asian then I can't wait to watch his reaction to the comments above. Chipchik's comments were a lot of things but I never even saw a hint of racism towards Asians in her comments. Prefect,,,wellll..........and maybe pearlguy?? jus sayin'.....

Um, OK. But I don't think that rates nearly as high as many of your posts. It's not a gem.

Do Asian (?) people really get offended by that type of comment? I never really considered it degrading. I mean, OK, they eat dogs and cats. That solution is like one million times better than ours, enslaving ourselves to them. I mean WTF??? A thousand years ago we got rid of our idols and our altars, and now we've got noisy, shedding, parasite harboring, sickly shitting machines that we worship. OK, let's call that "progress."

Logged on just now. I usually get on about once a day. pearl's comments I consider a joke based on the food quality at the IP and what they serve. Prefect's I also consider a sarcastic joke based on pearl's joke and not worth a mention. While prefect's comments could be considered offensive I consider the context of his and pearl's comments just a joke.

I consider Chik's comments and corresponding posts degrading against one group of people (people that won't spring for limos and spend like she does), mentioning that the cheap person squeaks is also something that comes up in asian jokes. Most of her comments she made were not jokes, she does feel the way she does. I think she realizes the can of worms she opened and isn't continuing that conversation because it wouldn't get any better and would probably escalate if continued. I agree, things were said and responded to and it is time to end that conversation, we had our say in the matter
and it's time to move on.

It is unfortunate that all of these kinds of racial jokes and stereotypes are still around but they have been around awhile. I myself have gotten chopped for stereotypical comments on another forum (a few years ago I made a joke about "wetbacks"......hey, I'm from hawaii, we only hear about that kind of thing on tv so have no ideal how degrading people consider it, guess it's like using the N word). But IMHO it's one thing to make a joke and another thing to come out and comment on one group of people.

Anyway Rizz, if you got out the popcorn expecting to see fireworks you may as well go see a movie. Enough was said about this issue and it's time to put them to bed and move on.

Personally, I always stay in Vegas where the Hawaiins stay, mainly Main Street Station downtown. Why? Because Hawaiians always look for value for their money. That is not being cheap. That is being smart. I have nothing but respect for the Hawaiians, and Makikiboy is almost always on the money when he posts.

makikiboy is adorable too.

some months back, my half Korean boyfriend calls just when I am in the back yard trying to figure out where one of my dogs is. He asks me what I am doing and I answer that I am looking for my dog. he says "uh-oh, you haven't had any Korean families move into the neighborhood lately, have you?" I don't think he offended himself

The Hawai'ian-Vegas affinity is something else. I've played a few rounds with locals and when the talk invariably turns to where and what, they were floored at my proximity to Vegas, the trips, everything. All I could think of was, "Man, I sure could live here." Guess we crave what's not immediately in reach.
