Budget does not honor confirmed price.

Your recommendation seems a bit excessive. You seem to assume that one poor employee's position is a company policy, which I'm quite certain is not the case. Eat a "chill pill" and you should feel better soon.

Deceptive sales practices by Budget Rental operating under Costco Travel (or whatever the arrangement is.

Right now, you don't know if your $80 will be refunded, so good time to register the complaint and get an investigation going.

I would also call Cleveland airport management. There is accountability on contractors that operate on airport property. The airport profits from rental car operations on their property. As a dissatisfied customer, you will not continue to do business at that site if the counter agents are incompetent.

Go get 'em!

No, I don't need a chill pill. But one thing I learned the hard way is that when mistakes are made, they must be brought to someone's attention ASAP, someone at the top who can investigate and correct. If you have never been in a postion of supervising people, you may not know that while most are good, there are those who just show up for a paycheck and don't pay attention. On the flip side of that, big companies don't care that their front line agents may be set up to fail due to poor training, customer volume, deals that change by the minute, an uncommunicated change in policy, etc.

The rental car industry is well known for cheating customers one way or another. My suggestions to alanleroy are, of course, suggestions that can be taken or not. I'm most likely older than you, Boilerman, more likely to take service issues as far to the top as I reasonably can because otherwise poor or deceptive service continues.
HA HA,Julie!
Gutless POS,indeed.
'83 Chevette top speed: 85MPH DOWNHILL.
I agree with you, that car would scare the crap out of me on an uphill onramp! Don't try to merge at 45MPH.
I think that a 3 cylinder metro accelerates harder. The automatic one.

.....we reserve the right to change terms anytime at our sole discretion....WOW!
Wrong, sir! Wrong! Under section 37B of the contract signed by Mrs AlanLeroy, it states quite clearly that all offers shall become null and void if - and you can read it for yourself in this photostatic copy:

I, the undersigned, shall forfeit all rights, privileges, and licenses herein and herein contained, et cetera, et cetera... Fax mentis incendium gloria cultum, et cetera, et cetera... Memo bis punitor delicatum!

It's all there, black and white, clear as crystal!

"You lose. You get nothing. Good day sir!"

For those who don't know, we are bantering with Willy Wonka movie lines. Great movie.

I disagree with O2bnVegas' position that large companies don't care if their employees suck. Poor employee performance cost the company ownership money, which makes ownership unhappy. Alanleroy has been promised a correction and assuming that this happens, he is owed no further "damages". I agree that Budget management would want to know about ongoing poor performance, and Alanleroy has informed the company of this mistake.

Pushing this problem up the Budget management ladder may benefit the company, and possibly even get Alanleroy a nominal financial compensation. For me, once I've received the promised deal I move on and consider using a different rental company in the future. Voting with ones wallet is quite effective.

Boilerman managed his first employees at the ripe old age of 19, which was 47 years ago.

Over the past 2 years I've reserved Budget via Costco at least 6 times and never had a problem or had to show my card. I've also used Costco codes and reserved direct with Budget, no problem.

I admit slightly mistating my position about big companies. Sometimes they "don't care". Often they are unaware of effects of changes on the front line employee and on the customers. If the change was costly to make, there may not be enough motivation to change course until confronted by the people who sign THEIR paychecks. It is no secret that the car rental process is full of booby traps. Look at all the complaints just on this board! We are at their mercy with their long lines (inadequate staffing/poor training/poor hiring/poor pay), insurance games, damage games, etc. I'd have no problem reporting a company if I felt deceived. I appreciate alanleroy sharing his experience, and I made suggestions I myself would follow. Nobody else has to agree. OK, rant over. Thanks.
wow, this really scares me. I hate the old bait and switch routine, I don't deal with it well at all. I rented from budget in april/may (vegas) and everything went ok. I will say their website SUCKS! I will be in vegas again in august, and so far the best rate I have is with budget. the rates will probably change again before then, but you have really got me worried. I don't like to have to argue with people face to face or on the phone, just don't have the patience for it. it is just crazy -- you have a CONFIRMED rate-reservation, and then you have to cross your fingers and hope they honor it. what a way to do business.

At this point I'm convinced it was just an untrained agent in Cleveland and a crappy no-customer service rep. I did receive an e-mail from 'escalations' today. It basically said that they see the rate was already fixed and if there is still a problem to call them. I also got a 'quality survey' about their Customer Care rep...which I filled out in detail.
