Budget does not honor confirmed price.

I didn't read this whole thread, but thought I'd recommend Sixt. We went to Florida recently and all cars were very high and they were 20 bucks a day. I was skeptical, but thought I could always grab something else if they fell through...most perfect experience...fine cars, new building, great staff...even offered a breakfast basically...had waters, fruits, pastries and yogurt. Same experience at return location...no complaints at all. I had never heard of Sixt as I don't rent cars much at all. I think they are a new foreign company.

Someone mentioned the chevy spark, that is the car they gave us, it was small, but new and fine and we really just needed a car from airport to cruise, while getting us around town for two days of exploring.
The guy at Payless in Vegas in June was getting pissed I was turning down his hard sell on the insurance, gas, and all the other crap, printed out their agreement form to sign and it was $155 when I was quoted at $89.07. I said, your agreement form is incorrect, I told you I was quoted at $89.07 when I first stepped to the counter, declined all of the extra stuff you try to sell and your price is $65 more than I was quoted. I said "either I get the quoted $89.07 price or I walk, the choice is yours". He quickly changed the price back to what I was quoted.

Then they conveniently didn't have my class of car and tried to get me to upgrade for a fee at the "key booth" I said NO, I just went thru this "'pitch" at the counter, they ended up giving me a free upgrade. Luckily I have no problems saying "NO" and almost enjoy saying that word after each "'pitch".

Moral of the story is read the rate on the rental agreement they print out and make sure it matches your quoted rate, and do not be afraid to say "NO" often and loudly if you must.

Here is an update. When Mrs. AlanLeroy returned the car her AMEX was charged $90 over the original confirmed price....although the final invoice showed a $25 Costco coupon, the base rate had changed so the rental was $10.00 more than the original $80.00 overcharge.

I called Costco Travel and spoke to a Budget Agent who worked exclusively with Costco Travel. I explained the entire issue to him and he transferred me to a 'specialist' and I again explained the overcharge scenario.

He reviewed the original confirmed price and the final invoice and claimed he would make an adjustment so the overcharge would be reversed on the AMEX. I asked him to e-mail me a confirmation of the credit. I received an e-mail that looked like an additional invoice for the original amount.

So either the $90 overcharge is reversed or we are being double billed...once with the original amount and again with the $90 increase. I have high hopes everything is straightened out, but not interested enough to look online to see what the actual American Express transactions are. I'll just wait for the statement.
You know you want to look.

We started using carrentalsavers.com several years back and they've always, always have the best prices bar none. That includes any Costco coups,AAA or anything. The rates have always been exactly as quoted and nary a lick of any problems. If your shopping price alone(which we always are) and not loyal to any particular carrier, this is a great site. I'm not even sure we've had the same carrier twice, couldn't swear to it, but I think so. Alamo, surprisingly, was the cheapest car by far on our trip to Tahoe.
Thanks for that site Jatki99, it was cheaper by a few dollars but it doesn't include an extra driver. When I go solo that would work.
I would be pissed at this point had I been in your position.
