Buffet to buy Portillos Hot Dogs?

If you are familiar with the Chicago metropolitan area then you know this restaurant chain. Portillos is the one true thing I miss most about living in Chicago. Could they go national now? It would be heaven.

Berkshire getting into Hot Dog business?

Portillos

Wow, $1 billion for 38 Portillos, 10 other branded restaurants going by different names, and two shopping centers seems expensive. It's a good joint, though.

When I saw the title of this, I thought of Jimmy buffet, never did I think Of Warren B. Whoda ever thunk Warren Buffet would be interested in a hot dog stand? Not me that's for sure.

Portillos restaurants aren't quite "hot dog stands", but I understand your thoughts.

The August 2014 issue of Consumer Reports rates Fast Food restaurants.

Portillo's Hot Dogs ranks first among "Sandwich Chains", . . . and 3rd overall, just behind In-N-Out Burger and Papa Murphy's Take "N" Bake Pizza - tied for first.

Maybe, . . . jes' maybe, this heh Warren Buffet fellah knows what he's a -doin'.

Yea, he does have the eagle eye and the midas touch.

I said that before 'cause I never heard of Portilla's and thought of Jimmy B. to somehow tie in with the Margartitaville franchise.

Portillos that's funny that i'm having a wonderful double cheese burger from there as i write this! They have the BEST hamburgers around. I like em better than In & out and fat burger which are the two burger chains here in california but there is a Portillos in Buena Park, CA which is about 20 minutes away from me.

Warren very very rarely pays to much for a business. He is a value investor. Berkshire has tons of cash that he needs and wants to put to work. If he is buying, he will take it across the entire USA. What reviews I read on this topic that sounds like a good thing.
I learned that Birkshire Partners (not to be confused with Birkshire Hathaway) is buying Portillos. Warren Buffet's company is not involved.
