Buffets: Who has the best of all the Boyd Group

I've been wondering out of all the Boyd Group

who has the best buffet for breakfast, lunch and

dinner.

What are your suggestions????

Thanks,

Diane

Main Street Station, hands down, not even close.
Another vote for MSS, especially Friday seafood dinner which always has long lines.
Weekend brunch is nothing special, but is still probably the best Boyd brunch.
I agree with MSS as the best - a little bit disconcerting to see all of the Jello and pudding for dessert, but that's the crowd they get for the most part.

I have to agree, we went there on the next part of my TR and were surprised how nice and how much they had to offer. I loved the antiques too. Ceck out the pamphlet they have when you go eat there it tells about all the stuff there. Beautiful
Good to know, almost went there tonight but went to GNbuffet instead. It was nothing to write home about, actually we were rather disappointed. Not a huge selection at all. Intereting that a couple olders ladies almost pushed me aside when they were checking out the buffet,WELL! EXCUSE FRIGGIN ME!!!

Think we'll hit MSS buffet tomorrow night for sure then,i have never heard this many positive reviews about it.

I've been to all the Boyd buffets in Las Vegas and I think Main Street Station is the overall winner. They have good fried chicken and a cheerful/comical egg maker man (in the morning). Also, the dining room is really pretty.
The Orleans buffet has slipped over the years but I do like the fact that they have gelato at lunch and dinner and their soups are pretty tasty. I also like that they have eggs Benedict each morning.
Aloha,
Jennifer

I like the Orleans at lunch. I think its $7.99 and has a few live cooking stations, which are much harder to screw up than the heat lamp stuff.
I believe that the Fremont is part of Boyd.
I've always liked their Seafood Buffet (Friday night - $17.99).

I remember only a few years back when this was $12.99,
and they had iced New England Lobster Claws with warm butter (all you could eat) as part of their menu,

........ and we even used the 2/1 coupon !!!!!

Now THAT, was a Great Deal !!!

The GN buffet I heard had better quality but not as much selection as the MSS and fremont buffets.

For the MSS and fremont buffets, there are good points and bad points. I like the MSS breakfast buffet because they have a good selection of stuff, including pizza's (in the morning? yup). The omlette maker is good entertainment but many times he puts so much oil in the pan that I have to use a napkin to sop up all the oil that ends up on my plate. Although entertaining I usually skip the omlettes because of the excess oil used, upsets my stomach.

The fremont also has an omlette maker in the morning. not as entertaining but at least he doesn't flood the frying pan with oil. they also serve these small sausages (a little over an inch and a half long) that I like, MSS doesn't serve these.

As for dinner, both have their steak or prime rib or seafood nights. The MSS has a better dinner selection, chinese in the corner, mexican next to it, then the usual main course stuff (ribs, chicken, chops, etc.) in addition to the real main course. The fremont buffet I think has a better selection of salad type items (greens and other stuff like potato salad, cold cuts etc.). They have 2 different tables for the salad items, one tables with the greens and the other table with lox and other stuff. the fremont also has some main course selection and they also serve mexican and also sushi (not sure if it's every night but so far it's been there whenever I ate there). The sushi isn't the greatest though, I guess it's because it stays out and so sometimes has an "old" look to it.

You can probably look at their schedules and have a steak or prime rib or seafood almost every night of the week between the two of them.

desserts for both are okay with some selection. MSS dessert table is bigger and they also have a larger area of no sugar desserts.

As for atmosphere, the MSS buffet is bright and vibrant looking in most areas but the back (south) side tables. The southside tables aren't as brightly lit so if light bothers you then you can ask for the back side tables. The Fremont paradise buffet is kind of dark and dimly lit in many areas not near the buffet. you feel like you are in a jungle at the fremont and sometimes wonder if they are doing that to hide the food or some unsanitary condition in the place. (that's JMHO).

When I go with the boyd charter (vacations hawaii) they give us coupon books so I usually split my meals between the 2 buffets or eateries in the 3 downtown casinos.

The Cal also has a breakfast buffet. Not as much selection, usually scrambled eggs, sausages, hash, bacon, etc. standard breakfast stuff in addition to cold cereal, bagels and some other stuff. Nothing special but if you tired of the other 2 buffets then this is a change because you can also order from their daily menu.

Sam's town has their firelight buffet. They seem to have a big decent selection of items there but nothing to write home about. Only tried out the dinner buffet so not sure about breakfast.

Also included in the boyd buffets are the orleans buffet and gold coast buffet. The orleans buffet offers some variety in different stations, like southwest food, eastern food, etc. reviews recently haven't been kind though. For the price it is decent for breakfast or dinner but like sam's town not outstanding or something I would go out of my way for. Ditto with the gold coast.

To me one of the good things about the boyd buffets is the price, under $20 unlike most of the other buffets.
