Congressman Jim Bridenstine was denied access yesterday to the HHS facility at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma currently housing up to 1,200 unaccompanied alien children (UAC) who illegally crossed the southern border into the United States.

Congressman Bridenstine said, “There is no excuse for denying a Federal Representative from Oklahoma access to a federal facility in Oklahoma where unaccompanied children are being held. Any Member of Congress should have the legal authority to visit a federal youth detention facility without waiting three weeks..."

.."“After my visit today with the base commander, I approached the barracks where the children are housed. A new fence has been erected by HHS, completely surrounding the barracks and covered with material to totally obscure the view. Every gate is chained closed.

“I approached a security guard and asked to speak with the manager of the facility. The guard called his supervisor who said no visitors were allowed. I asked if they were aware that I am a Member of Congress. Eventually the manager came out and said that I would have to go through HHS legislative affairs and that the first chance to visit would be July 21st."

As everyone can see, the above mentioned posting depicts the first of future problems coming because of the gutless Obeyme administrations having a blind eye to this ongoing problem of illegal aliens entering the U.S. Another example of Obeyme doing his job-not.

The border patrol stopped and captured 50k immigrants coming across the border ...and those captured immigrants are proof the border patrol is NOT doing its job. A thoughtful and Priceless observation by our board's greatest intellectual.

You can have an intelligent debate (not with DrMilled..or the protestors at this incident) about the correct way to process refugees escaping from poverty and oppression. But the spitting rage and hatred demonstrated by these knuckle-dragging xenophobes is embarrassing for our country.

Not all republicans are represented by the events yesterday...but once again unfiltered hatred will go unchallenged by the GOP and the extremists will move the goal posts of the debate off the cliff. The window is getting smaller and smaller for Republicans to appeal to anyone beyond straight, white, Christian men. Yesterday the window closed another inch.

Some people on this board like to note how all black people vote Democrat. Yeah, what alternative do they have? Thats going to hold true for Latinos as well if this kind of behavior continues. And since Republicans are happy to embrace people like Steve King, and the Archie Bunker mob, ...and Drmilled....I dont think the future is very bright for their party. Fine by me.

There are reports that the people in this current batch of illegal entries have numerous contagious diseases. The current solution has been to move them to various centers where they are processed and then released into the country with relatives or foster homes with a promise to return for a hearing. The liklehood that they will show up for a hearing is tiny.

They should be stopped at the border and turned around. Once word gets out that they are being turned around it will stop.

I realize this will be viewed as a stupid question, and I know some of the pat answers, but I will ask and hope for reasoned (not from emotion) information from my fellow LVA posters:

Why cannot Mexico take care of their citizens? I'm sure their leaders are corrupt, and/or mob-influenced, etc.

And I'm sure the migrants have heard that US streets are paved with gold.

Still, with all the so called government concern about human rights violations in the Middle East, and the $$ billions the pres just approved to be spent on Syria, what is being done, other than fences and border patrols, to address this in our neighboring country? Do we do trade with Mexico? Do we have any leverage?

Seriously, I have not spent time studying this. I really want to hear some facts. Thanks.

Most of this recent surge are children from Central America who are under the impression that if they send us their children we will take care of them.

The Mexican govt doesn't really care. Less people for them to take care of and many of those that work in the US send money back to their families to spend in Mexico.

The US has leverage but chooses not to exercize it

The refugees are not being "sent" by anyone under some fictional ideology that Hoops has fabricated.

Guatemala and Honduras have shadow governments that are largely corrupted or marginalized by drug cartels...and the murder/violent crime rate has grown drastically over the last few years.

Mothers who care about the well being of their children are making the voluntary and desperate choice to go elsewhere to give their kids a fighting chance. You can make an intelligent argument the US should accept or reject these refugees...or something in between....but what do you say to people who spit in the face of the desperate people in this position? All I can think to do is tell the world "I'm sorry."....and "not everyone in our country is an A-Hole."

It's my understanding that the kids freely walk up to whatever authority's there, I don't beleive there's any "stopping and capturing" of those kids and I'm also pretty sure someone is telling those kids that if they make here, all is good, so yea, I would define that as someone is sending them.

Pj - at wha point does the US stop allowing people to enter the country for any reason? This is a sad situation but we are a country of limited resources, but allowing everybody in will bankrupt us faster thsnwe are headed now

Very shortly after Hurricane Katrina, I was on a trip with my Houston buddy. He learned during the trip that thousands of stranded New Orleans refuges were being bused to the Houston Astrodome. That day Pete said, "I know these people, and they will never leave." His implication was that most folks that were being dropped off were not gainfully employed, many were criminals, and that crime in that area would skyrocket. Pete was quite correct.

Do Liberals believe my friend is a racist, and that I'm a racist for understanding the obvious and for stating the obvious truth? For those who say "yes", please accept a full bus load of Mexicans into your home.
