Cabana rooms at El Cortez best room value in Las Vegas?

Stayed here on Friday and Saturday night weekend before Christmas.

Rooms show a little wear, but that's going to happen with lots of black trim.

Very comfy bed, nice amenities with the tv and fridge, really nice bathrooms with good water pressure and high shower head. A little more noisy than in the past due to the praying mantis at the container park. Found walking across the street to El Cortez not to be a problem. Cabanas have the nicest unused lobby ever.

Total damage on a Friday and Saturday night was $57 a night TOTAL...that's including resort fees and taxes. Super close to parking and also to the Siegals 1941 which we found to have pretty good food.

I wanna call this the best room deal in Las Vegas. Surprised people seem to shy away.
Some on this site would refuse to stay at the El Cortez due to the resort fee............regardless of the great value.

I stayed there in October and I agree - El Cortez Cabana Suites is the best "all in" value in Vegas. It is great to have a casino with $5 Blackjack that pays 3-2 just steps away and all the good (and bad) of downtown 1 block away. I will be back in January.
Plus, they have room safes. They are the only standard rooms at El Cortez that do.
But all that lime green is awful when you have a hangover.

Tower rooms have safes also. Cabana Suites are small but very comfy - one of the best kept secrets in Vegas...

I have come close to booking there, but have not done so yet. it looks like a fair deal to me. when I am staying downtown on a solo trip I book whatever is cheapest. there is a BOGO offer for EC in the 2016 MRB, so I will likely be paying them a visit in 2016. the offer is for a mini-suite. I just cant stand that horrible fragrance that is pumped into the casino. wreaks havoc on my sinuses and breathing almost instantly. do they really think that covers up the smoke?

Is this a new development? its been a few years but the last time I stayed in the tower I had to put my cash into one of their safety deposit boxes in the lobby. Thats awesome if they have safes now
My safety device is the velcro on my cargo shorts pocket. I'll probably get ripped off some day.

Stayed in the Tower twice this year. Safes in both rooms. Not fancy, but beds are decent, housekeeping is excellent and refrigerator works great...
The Super Suites have a queen not a king bed but they have a couch and more room.
