Caesars Properties / Using Points for Room

First question, if paying with points at a Caesars property do you still have to pay the taxes on the room? I have enough points to cover the room and resort fee.

Second, I am looking at going over Breeders Cup weekend in November. I have enough points for Rio, Harrahs, Linq, Bally's or Flamingo. We always rent a car so Rio is ok being off strip. I'm leaning towards Linq or Ballys. I would welcome opinions. Wife enjoys shopping and pool, I care most about racing and sports book.

I used Starwood Preferred Guest points to stay at Caesars last January. I believe they didn't charge taxes on the room, but they charged the daily resort fee plus taxes on that resort fee. It was still a great deal.

If you have that many "points", i.e. Reward Credits, have you not received offers for comped nights? Just curious.

Be sure that you can use RCs for the Resort Fees, if you go that route.
I don't know for sure, but there are some things they do not accept RCs as payment for.
Resort Fees are taxed. I doubt you can pay taxes with RC's, but I may be wrong.
Just that you don't want a nasty surprise.
All room fees can be paid for with RC's. I have stayed at Rio on a mostly comp offer. Paid for Saturday night, taxes, resort fee at the end of stay with RC's. They even will refund my deposit to my credit card and use RC's.

Check your account on line for free room nights. In November is also free nights for the Gift Wrap up promo.

Sorry. I misunderstood. You obviously are talking about different points.
I earned these TR points several years ago in the Great Race for Rewards so I don't gamble all that much to earn free offers. I've kept them alive over the years and want to finally use them and not have to worry about keeping them from expiring. I used the calendar with my TR number along with my wife and the discounts for these dates are small. They know I'm not a draw to them. Thanks to all for the replies thus far. Any thoughts on hotel choices from those mentioned?
I think in November the pools are closed for your wife.
The average high in Vegas as the Breeder's Cup runs is 72 degrees. The low is 50. Vegas28m is likely correct.
Bally's rooms are larger than the other properties and is my personal favorite. I stayed at the LINQ last time I was in Vegas and found the rooms to be modern and efficient and small, but I would stay there again. Best to choose a hotel based on the location you prefer.
