California Prisoners!

Yes, by a decision of the Supreme Court some years back, any child in the U.S., regardless of immigration status, is entitled to attend public schools through 12th grade. Yes, it costs taxpayer money, - THE SC HAS HAD SOME DUMB DECISIONS IN THE PAST; THIS IS ONE OF THEM. Curious where in the Constitution does it say this? I don't recall the Constitution saying anything about education

but if you think education is expensive, try ignorance. Not only is this the humane thing to do, but it is the practicable thing to do as well, because in the end, these children are not going to go away. - WITH THE FEDS RUNNING A $1,500 BILLION DEFICIT & THE STATES ALSO SHORT OF CASH PROVIDING FUNDING FOR PEOPLE WHO DON'T BELONG HERE IS DUMB

The only health care they are entitled to is emergency room care on a humanitarian basis. - EXPENSIVE CARE; INTERESTINGLY WHEN THE DEMOCRATS COUNT UNINSURED THEY COUNT ILLEGALS

To get a job, by law the employer must verify their immigration status, but of course some employers dance around the law because they know what terrific workers most immigrants are, especially the illegal ones. - THE REAL REASON THEY GET THE WORK IS SINCE THEY ARE HERE ILLEGALLY THEY WORK FOR LESS THAN MINIMUM WAGE & NO BENEFITS. WITH 15 MILLION AMERICANS UNEMPLOYED THEY ARE TAKING JOBS AMERICANS CAN DO

All the rights of a legal resident? Give me a break! - TRY BREAKING THE LAW LIKE THIS IN MEXICO - YOU GO TO JAIL
"How do you cut crime by releasing inmates?"

You deport them
Hey Indianapaddler... I know about the boat lift.... I lived in Miami then... I know about the 3-5% of the criminals. It just took that 3-5% to ruin South Florida for years-- not only the crime, but the living conditions, how Little Havana was ruined. Remember Time Magazine's "Paradise Lost" cover? I lived it.
A few weeks ago when it was on the news that there were now 50 million hispanics living here our local channel had this older hispanic lady on. It was obvious she thought it was going to be some kind of celebratory type interview or something. The news guy kinda tore into her asking her about undocumented ones there where here ,etc.etc. That lady was caught soooo off guard, she was squirming in her seat. I thought it was funny.

PS Another thing i noticed lately. We're in the process of re-fi''ing our house. Where it asks what race you are, the 2 choices are white or hispanic. Now the poor black man has been has now being included with the likes of eskimos and native americans. Hows them beans for ya?

Criminal aliens have consistently made up about 25 percent of the federal prison population since 2001, according to the study.

Nearly 70 percent of the criminal aliens in federal prisons, and 66 percent in state prisons, were born in Mexico, the report found. About five percent are from the Dominican Republic, and five percent from Colombia.

Based on a 1,000-person sample of the criminal alien population, the study found that each non-U.S. citizen in prison had, on average, been arrested seven times over the course of their lives.

About 90% of those imprisonments are for immigration and drug violations. So yeah, our foolish War On Drugs is very expensive. And it's true, the bipartisan decision by both Democratic and Republican administrations NOT to enforce sanctions on EMPLOYERS of illegals as set forth in the law that Reagan signed has also been very expensive.

But when it comes to federal crimes with actual victims, illegals are much MUCH more law abiding than us legals, and it isn't even close. The last time the same GAO broke out the figures, in 2005, here were the TOTAL number of illegals in federal prisons for the following crimes:
Homicide - 13
Kidnapping - 26
Robbery - 28
Assault - 41
Property crimes etc. - 91
Fraud etc. - 185
Weapons etc. - 251

Of course that's just for federal prisons. For state prisons, the total percentage of imprisoned illegals is considerably lower.
Arshy - where did you get these numbers? According to the link the average number of arrests for the 59,000 illegals in the study was 8! Many of these were for violent crimes
What page of that link are you getting your figures from? I don't see how anyone with any common sense would believe those ridiculously low numbers you provide. On page 18 it says that 1,100 are in federal prisons for homicide and you say there are only 13. Care to back up your statement that illegals are more law abiding than American citizens with something other than what you pull out of your ass?

Page 19. I should have mentioned that this was for total illegal inmates incarcerated in a single year period. Sorry about my misleading and incomplete use of the word "total," but still a pretty tiny number of total criminals, don't you think? And as I explicitly noted, this refers to federal inmates only, which is exactly what estes' quote refered to - an apples to apples comparison. Obviously, the percentage of illegals in state prisons would be much lower, while the absolute numbers would be much higher, since the total state prison system is about seven times as big.

And read the report again. The 59,000 bad guys that you cite doesn't refer to illegal aliens, does it? (Don't worry, even the best of us make mistakes. I just copped to one in the previous paragraph.)
