Anyone recomend a good camera these days between 3-400.00?

I want to take pictures and make movies of my trips. The one we have is from 2003.

you can get a decent point and shoot camera for $100-$200 these days.... They have HD Video function as well...

if you want to make your own movies and load them on youtube and on your own computer the various "flip" video cameras work well. Under $200 for the most part. www.theflip.com or any camera store.

Pretty much all of them are good now. Take a trip to your nearest electronics store and see what you prefer - some people go for overall picture quality, some for compact size or light weight. Just depends what your want list has on it!

and the costs keep coming down. today, you can get a TV professional quality HD video camera for about 4-thousand. Five years ago similar technology cost $20-thousand. Today, you can get a complete TV quality editing package on a desk top computer for about 5-thousand. Five years ago you would spend $60-thousand.

To put it into a Las Vegas perspective: for about one $2/coin, five coins in royal, you can have a total professional video set up. Or,for about one quad-aces with a kicker with five $5 coins in on DDB, you can have the same thing.

DonDiego personally has enjoyed employing products produced by Canon, Inc. in his quest for quality imaging. For the last few years he's snapped his photos with a Canon PowerShot A710 IS. The 24X optical/digital zoom allows him to capture wildlife, . . . if MedicluvsLasVegas knows what he means {wink, wink, nod, nod}.

If he were in the market now he'd consider the Canon PowerShot S95, pretty much at MedicluvsLasVegas's maximum price point; the older model Canon Powershot S90 at a slightly lower price; and the more compact Canon PowerShot SD 4000 IS, closer to $300 or so.

I am certainly no expert on cameras but I do visit a website somewhat frequently that ordinary consumers log in to, and then write about their complaints and vent off some steam about some particular product or service they are currently having trouble with.

There are now dozens of complaints written about NIKON CAMERAS on the site.

Like I said earlier, I am not an expert on cameras, but after reading about all the troubles and aggravation with Nikon products, that is one brand I personally would stay away from at the current time.
