Can the machines be switched to "don't pay" ?

MoneyLA likely encountered some machines inhabited by gremlins.

They do put gremlins in some machines. The gremlins job is to decrease the expected payout. Machines inhabited by gremlins are not random.

Sometimes they put fairies in machines too. Fairies increase the payout. They are usually found in highly-visible machines, . . . like at the end of a long row, . . . or where patrons are exiting a showroom. But they don't leave them in these machines very long.

Even more Arci bullshit. Let's see just the other day he tells me there are over 200 oej's grandfathered in MN. Now its 100. And get this, that's all he plays but they are at casino's 200 miles from where he lives. He always brags about his play at TI and Mystic. Now all of a sudden it's Mil llaces and Hinkley. Talk about keeping it straight ARci u should try to remember what you post in other threads. I can go back a couple years and pull posts about where u live and where u play so don't try to weasel out of this. And then to top it all off he claims to have an advantage on a less than .5% machine. What a joke.

Is that you, Betty? I see your reading comprehension is not too good. I stated it's a over hundred at each of the TWO casinos. Now, what's 100+100 ... take your time.

I never play at Mystic and have never stated I play there. Maybe you need new glasses or a brain that works. As for TI, I play there because it's only 50 miles vs. 150 to the other nearest casino with OEJs. It also has OEJs as do other casinos in MN. I only mentioned the two since that was all that was needed to respond to the question and they have many more machines, the machines are faster and have lots of denoms. I actually played there much more often when my wife was healthy but don't like to be away that long anymore.

Let's see if I can do the math for you on the last part. The edge is .2% for the game, up to .66% for the CB and .2% for coupons. I get 1.06% not including promotions, gifts and comps.

Maybe you can sign up for some online math courses ... I also suggest some spelling courses as well.

PS. At one time a couple of years ago a casino in Duluth had a major CB multiplier if you played between midnight and 5AM. The overall edge was about 4%. No longer exists but these plays do show up now and then and this is what APers thrive on.

No this is not Betty. Although I am very aware. I read Rex too. As you should well know Betty is banned from here.

That's almost the exception that proves the rule. OEJ is the most difficult, nauseating game to play. Haven't even seen the game in years-it's so ugly nobody plays it. I think I would jump off the Stratosphere before I made the effort to learn it. I'll stick to FPDW and 10/7 DB.
Nevertheless I have to, for the first and I hope only time, tip my hat to you.

"Ugly" is in the mind of the viewer. If it was a simple game like FPDW is probably would never have been allowed in the casinos. The only reason it got in was no one knew the return and the typical hold on the machines was 6-7%. So, the casinos love them and the state figured they would let them stay after being around for 15 years before they figured out they were over 98%.

Like all VP games the difficulty is in the learning once a person gets the strategy down it's not that difficult to play within .1% of perfect. However, getting the strategy down is a major effort. Although, not that difficult when it means gaining at least a 2% margin over the other games around here.

In fact, some people even consider the game to be much more fun than easy games like FPDW. It's more of a challenge and keeps the mind into the game. I can barely play deuces games for an hour without starting to fall asleep.

At my age that is starting to be the case with all the games. Play an hour, do something else for an hour.
You're mind definitely works differently from mine. I enjoy the easiest games which is why I am a 25 year FPDW specialist. If I didn't have to look for those damn inside straights it would be a perfect game-and I could enjoy a little more of that free booooooze.

Melbedewy,

Just an FYI that there are positive VP plays in MN. I have first hand knowledge and have played there.

Let's see-there are positive plays in Las Vegas, Laughlin, Reno and Carson City. Fpdw at the Palms, Colorado Belle, Silver Legacy and Casino Fandango respectively.
I have claimed these 4 cities have positive plays and backed up that claim with machines and specific casinos.
You have claimed the Minnesota Indian casinos have positive plays.
You will now of course be kind enough to give a specific machine and casino as I have done.
Won't you...?

Since your request has already been filled, no need for me to reiterate.

Your subsequent post about OEJ is understandable; it is not for every taste. The strategy takes a significant time investment and it is by far the most challenging game I know of. This makes it fun in a sick sort of way.

I have not played it recently as I no longer make visits to the area, at one point, other business had me traveling there regularly. When I was playing it, the CB was .25, the game was .25, comps were .25 and there were discretionary comps on top. It was a good play and is still decent with lower CB.
Ive never seen this OEJ game. So a question: do the graphics of the Jacks actually have one eyes or two eyes? all of the VP games Ive played have jacks with one eye. thanks
MoneyLA,

:-)

Despite many, many hours on it, I don't know the answer to your question. The Wild jacks (Jack of Hearts and Jack of Spades) do have a "Wild" on them just like the 2s in deuces wild, so they are easily identified.

Yup, just one eye on jacks of hearts and spades, two eyes on other two.

The machines at the Grands are made by IGT and have the same graphics as the older IGT machines for everything else.
Ahh... thanks... "one eyed" and "wild." Very good. Im going to look for this game.

When reading Arc's "royal flush" count I saw the reference to OEJ and to be honest I had no idea what OEJ meant until recently. I had no idea the game was made.

But more recently Ive discovered a lot of -- what I would call -- exotic games including royal aces bonus (any four aces pays the same as a royal) and a new "low ball" game.
You'll probably have difficulty finding the game. There's a slightly lower paying version of OEJs that I found in Laughlin. I have no idea if it's still around. The Palms had about 96% version of the game. Don't know if they still do.
