Can speed control on video poker machines affect winning?

I would have thought not, but on my most recent casino run I had an extreme experience. Had $15 in free play and went to a quarter 9/5 DDB progressive with it. Hit a FH on my first hand, but noticed the machine was set on the slowest speed. Raised it to the middle speed, and proceeded to lose the remaining 12 hands. Cashed out $10, which was less than my original hit.

Probably just a random drought unrelated to the speed setting, but is certainly cause for wonder.
Playing dollars, I have always used the slow speed. If no speed control and fast, I move on. Since I'm way ahead over the last 10 years, slow obviously works for me. I find that I do not enjoy the fast speeds, since I do not have to think on slow speeds, just automatic. Fast tends to slow me down...go figure.

Sometimes I play the 100 play penny machines on slow.

I prefer slower, except when the slow is creepy turtle speed.
If a machine is too fast and can't be adjusted I move.

You lose your money much slower playing at slow speed.
Middle speed for me. I can't see the speed making any difference in outcome, no more so than one's rate of pressing the deal button, stopping to order a drink or dig change from pocket/purse, going to the restroom, etc.

Since the dealt hand, and the drawn hand, are reportedly determined by the nano-second one hits the buttons whether playing slow, medium, or fast, I don't see it making any more of a difference.

But, what do I know?

You know that comparison is the thief of joy.

Re: speed
Have you ever tried closing your eyes or looking away after hitting DEAL ?
Strange, but it takes a lot longer to assess the hand than when watching a dealt hand even at the fastest speed.
Just goes to show how quickly our brain processes the cards are they are dealt.

Rick
Goldilocks here. Just as she liked her porridge not too hot and not too cold I prefer my VP not too fast and not too slow.

WTF is porridge anyway?
I like hyper-speed....wait...there's a speed control?
