Can speed control on video poker machines affect winning?

NOT ONE LITTLE BIT.
The speed of the deal has ...O.. to do with the dealt hand or the outcome.
Also, cashin out and then back in does nothing as well.

Nano seconds count in computer speed, not VP. The dealt hands depends on when you push the deal button,as the RNG is going all of the time, just waiting for you to push DEAL.

I will take luck over skill any day of the week, but play correctly and your money will last longer 'tween ups and downs.

May we all have good hands dealt to us. Amen.
I don't think the speed of the deal, or how fast you hold and draw, has any effect on win/loss. I personally prefer middle speed, but I've noticed more than half of the people around me seem to like hyperdrive.
I prefer the slower speed - I make fewer errors choosing which cards to hold. Also, I have played machines whose buttons do not always work when trying to hold certain cards.
IF the machine is +EV, than the faster I can play, the more I can earn. THAT situation does not arise often enough.

IF the machine is -EV, than slow is definitely better. A bet saved is the same as a bet won. However, I also ask myself,...
"Why am I playing a -EV game?"

Middle speed for me. I can't see the speed making any difference in outcome, no more so than one's rate of pressing the deal button, stopping to order a drink or dig change from pocket/purse, going to the restroom, etc.

Since the dealt hand, and the drawn hand, are reportedly determined by the nano-second one hits the buttons whether playing slow, medium, or fast, I don't see it making any more of a difference.

But, what do I know?

You know that comparison is the thief of joy.

Yes, I can say that there is much truth in this. Thanks.

It won't affact the cards, but since you are almost certainly playing a negative expectation game, the fewer hands you play per hour, the less you will lose.

Years ago when I was playing quarter FPDW with royal progressive at the Palms, a nearby player complained to a tech that the machine was dealing too fast. The tech set it slower and commented that it shouldn't have been set on hyperfast mode. I'm guessing that a less honorable tech must have set it earlier at the request, and possibly bribe, of a greedy pro.
