Because of my increasing dementia (there can be no other reason LOL!), I left $385 in one of the video poker machines there last Sunday. I was finishing up getting the points my wife needed to get her 2 gift cards.
After writing down the points, games played and denomination onto my notes, I gathered up all the cards and paperwork and we headed to the Cannery Club desk to get the gift cards.
We stopped at a supermarket on the way home and that's when it hit me that I never cashed out the ticket...and then it hit me I never printed out the ticket! This was about one hour after we left the Cannery.
I chalked it up to experience and vowed (again) to print out the ticket first and then do the paperwork.
On Wednesday, I went to the Cannery to do the free play for my wife and I. There was a note on the display after I inserted her card...PLEASE SEE SLOT ATTENDANT. Since she was not there, I ignored the message.
We were both there on Thursday and she proceeded to call the slot attendant. The slot supervisor had no idea what it was about and said she'll go to the club booth and find out. Turns out that the slot personnel noticed that we left money in the machine and turned it in. They were able to tell which card was in the machine last and that was my wife's.
Mrs. Don went to the cage, filled out some paperwork and collected the $385. I found the slot supervisor, thanked her profusely and gave her $100 to give to the folks who saved the ticket for us. She was stunned but quickly regained her composure and said they really appreciated our generosity. It was a win win situation for both uf us.
My kudos to the slot team at the Cannery!!
