Car Living

What about those extended stay motels? I know you can get them around here for $650 per month for a nice one. I don't know about Vegas though but the safety of having a place to sleep means more to me than money.

Well, in one, you're living "in" the car, which would be unpleasant.

In the other, you're living "out" of the car. Which can still be unpleasant, but at least you're not in the f@#$%&g car.

I lived in my car for a year when I first moved to Vegas twenty-five years ago. It's not as tough as it sounds. The days are spent inside casinos. The nights aren't too bad once you get used to it.

Showers aren't really needed as long as you regularly wash your clothes. Your clothes will begin to smell after a day or two not your body.

Living in your car or out of your car...no difference.
If you are sleeping somewhere besides in your car it is not living in or out of your car.
If you are sleeping in your car, you are living in or out of your car.
Where you sleep defines the subject.

"Hanging around" the casino can be "profitable" for those who 'know' what they are doing. The "legality" of these practices is another 'story'. It is not my intention to cast any aspersions on the OP or other readers. Just stating some of the fact.

I've also spent long sessions inside a casino. I am a poker players, and once played for 27 straight hours. The game was just too good to leave! Many of my sessions have exceeded 10-12 hours or more, not including breaks for meals, exercise, or whatever.

From a different "angle",.....

I could go into a casino with $100.00, and guarantee I emerge hours later with more than that original $100.00. For those doubters out there, I would be willing to wager a significant sum on my ability to obtain those results in a casino of my choice during a time period of my choosing. Poker would not be a part of this adventure. I would just be searching for, and taking advantage of other 'opportunities' within the casino as they 'present themselves' to me.

"Advantage players" may spend hours keeping track or observing certain machines, waiting for their chance to play when the 'bonus jackpot' is about to go. There are many different games that offer an advantage sometime during the cycle between 'reset' and 'bonus-jackpot'.

There is also 'silver mining'. Finding credits left on machines, UX multipliers, and more. The TITO ATM machines often have loose change abandoned, or coins on the floor nearby from customers too lazy to pick them up.

Than, there are many outright illegal scams. Theft. Not the strong arm kind, but subtle methods that the victim does not notice for "awhile", if at all.

So many different and diverse ways to 'find' money in a casino. Some legal, many not.

Roadtrip,

Hooking is illegal in Vegas.

I lived in my car for about three weeks when I was a starving student and was waiting for someone to move out of an apartment. I didn't want to waste precious money (back then) on a flea bag motel.

1. I showered daily at my health spa.

2. The Acapulco (different ownership back then) had a great happy hour where they put out tacos, burritos, vegetables, chips and other things. A margharita was only a buck.

3. I had a 300 ZX so I reclined the seat and wore my ski jacket.

I was paranoid that a cop or someone would rap on my window during the night and tell me I wasn't allowed to be there. It never happened, but I feel that my sleep was a little lighter because I was fearful of it.
