CAR RENTAL

When I first booked with Alamo for my 4 day stay in November a compact car was

about $130.00. I then searched for coupons and was able to find a couple which

brought the price down to $100.00. I am still searching and tonight found coupons

which now has the car priced down to $82.59.

That's more reasonable but will still keep trying to get the price down

lower.

Good job on getting the price down Diane!
I never rent a compact car, but $20.60/day is an incredible price. Great job!
I've been looking at Alamo prices for a trip at the end of Sept for five days. Does your price include taxes and airport fees? Do you kind sharing where you got the best coupon?

Great Price!

txpeanut:

I coupon code & ID code are from the American Casino Guide.

It's an automatic $20.00 off for the 4 days and my price of $82.59 includes everything.

ID Code: 701500

Coupon code: AD7779SDW

Hope this helps you out.

I always book 6-8 weeks in advance, keep an eye out for coups/new deals and check rates at least every few days for any drop. The only times I never saw the rate drop was reserving an economy at Dollar for $10/day (not including 10% off for Amex) and was directed to a midsize (Sebring) both times.

I used to book a midsize, which was my preference, but started booking economies because of automatic upgrades. These days I'd book the Lock 'n Low with Dollar as the rate usually isn't much more than econ or compact.

Good Luck!

We have never rented a compact car until this trip. Charges for 1 weeks are:
Base rate $107.12 less (10.72) discount $50.00 Coupon brings it to $46.41
then the fun starts:
Consolidated facility charge $3.75 per day $26.25
Concession Recovery 10% $6.01
Clark County tax .93
Vechicle License fee $1.95 per day $13.65
Sales tax 8.10% $3.76
Nv. Gov Survharge $7.87
This totals $58.47

$58.47 Surcharges, taxes, and recovery fee
$46.41 Car rental
$104.88
Can't complain with the total. It how they get there is my question. The charges (surcharges) are more than the rental charges.
I am like Joe above and keep checking to see if the base

price goes down again. It only takes a couple of minutes to check

and it's worth your while because each year I always end up

saving more money. I also will check Alamo's own web site closer

to my dates to get a last minute price break. Then I will use whatever

one is lower.

Had a weekly rate for end of Sep with Alamo at about $20 total a day thru Costco site. Last week they send me a $40 off email and I rebooked and the price is now $15 total a day...around $108 for the 7 days.
This is for a standard car.
You can always reserve via their website and then cancel/rebook if the price goes lower. Good consumers are well rewarded for monitoring the prices.

Good job, Nanny !
