Car Rental Timing

I need help deciding on what time to pick up my rental car. I arrive on June 26th. The airline says we will arrive at 1:30. I leave on the 3rd at 5:30 and I don't want to wait for 3.5 hours to depart and I don't want to spend one more penny on my rental car. If the plane does really arrive at 1:30, how long do you think it takes to claim our checked bag and make our way to the car rental place? If I reserve for 3:00 and show up at about 2:30 do you think they'll charge me extra? I know I can wait until 3:00 but when you just land in Vegas you don't really want to sit around a car rental place. I'd also hate to reserve the car for 2:00 and end up standing in a line until 3:00. Should I reserve for 2:00 or 3:00?

I decided on changing my reservation for 3:00. That'll save me an hour waiting to go home. There's nothing worse than sitting in the airport waiting to leave Vegas. I got a pretty good deal at Enterprise $209 for a premium grade (Nissan Maxima or Crown Vic) all taxes and fees included. I just hope I don't get stuck with the Crown Vic.

I'd make the reservation for 3:00. I've picked up rental cars a little early a few times, and only once did the rental car company try to charge me for an extra hour for trying to pick up the car 20 minutes early. I told the guy I'd be back in 20 minutes and we could start over. This happened at BWI.

I've never had a car rental place put any credence on what time I reserved the car for. They just started the clock when they gave me the keys and turned the clock off when I returned the car. They might give you one hour grace. If you get the keys at 3:00pm the first day, you'd have to have return the car by 4:00pm the latest on the last day to avoid extra hourly or daily charges. That is pushing it, too. They might not give you any grace and you'd have to have the car back by 3:00pm on the last day. Ask them what they can do for you.
