Cards dealt up...???

I just read on another board where a player stated that at MGM properties, they are dealing the cards UP for 3 card poker and Let It ride.

Is this true and are the other groups and casinos planning to follow this trend too?

I'm sure this is intended to speed the game but surely this is pushing some away!

Thoughts??

why would it make any difference? It's not like the dealer can change what they have based on your cards

In fact, I can see where seeing everyone else's cards that are dealt in LIR could help you. Say you are dealt Ac,Kc,10c, you would be a lot more likely to pull back your bets and not go for the royal if you saw someone else had Jc
Dealing the cards face up in LIR can only help the players, if there are no "other" changes, or reduction in pay offs for the bonus bets.

Knowing and being able to calculate the odds for a runner-runner flush, etc is beneficial, although I don't imagine it reducing the house advantage by much.

Most places I've ever toyed with LIR, they get "bent out of shape" when the players "shared" their hands with others.
This doesnt sound like a logical move for the casino. Knowing what the other hands is a huge advantage.
LIR is also the only game I can think of where you can't play more than one hand.

I don't often play table games. I certainly would be tempted to play LIR if the cards are dealt face up, and the table was full. Knowing 18 cards has to be a much larger advantage than I originally considered, and even more so for the final turn card where 19 are known.

But, I am also certain the house would still maintain a hugh advantage.

They did that at Aria when I was there with LIR. It took a while to get used to. Actually, the short while it took to lose my money.
I find it interesting, though, that dealers at other casinos said we are "not supposed" to share with each other what cards we have. I have wondered if we shared what we had, then got a royal flush, if they would try to not pay out.

Playing LIR it is a huge advantage. I've played on a few tables where we were all pretty much sharing each others cards, thought the dealer or PB would say something but they never did. Its been at IP all times this has happened.

I noticed the cards were being dealt face up on a 3 card poker game at Mandalay Bay on Sunday, when I inquired about it I was told that that is their new rule.

They most likely started doing it due to people cheating/switching cards. There is now a 0% chance of swapping cards since they are all face up.

IMO its a very big advantage to the player.
Does cut out the card swapping and speeds up the game so maybe that is way they made the change.

Assume the paytable has not changed?
My favorite game is 3 Card. One of the reason's it's my favorite is that i am superstitious and I look at the bottom card 1st. If its a Q or better, I don't look at the other 2 cards. If not, I look at the 2nd card, it I pair up, I don't look at the 3rd card. I then politely request the dealer slow roll the last card. Playing this way adds to my excitement level. Having the cards face up, wouldn't. I guess I'll play my 3 Card elsewhere when I'm in town again.
