I don't like really fast dealers at all.
Oh, . . . poor old DonDiego left out the cutest part of the story.
Throughout the session at the Dunes with the quick Oriental dealer she very rarely spoke, . . . but at the conclusion of an especially fast shoe, during which DonDiego was barely able to keep up, she looked right at DonDiego and said: "You good !"
DonDiego was thrilled. He thanked her and commented that she was an excellent dealer.

It was sorta like Ali and Fraser recognizing each others' skills, . . . or a matador and a bull showing each other respect, . . . or Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker in Rush Hour bridging the gap between two cultures.
Anyway, it was cool.

You could have left out the reference to Jackie and Tucker....
It is a BIG compliment to have the dealer tell you,to your face:"You good".
I would be very happy to play at your table,DD.Quite a few other people, too.
There are some really "savvy" players on this forum.
Maybe some day,we will meet.

"Team play" is a powerful tool to use against the casino.
If my BJ skills at card counting gets better,I would be proud to have a tap on my shoulder.
I'll take a comp dinner for that, just write me a ticket for free food,Mr./Ms. pit person.

It's all PHUN in 'Vegas. That's what they sell.
Happy to be going down there, again.
It will be in the 90's.
There's been a new addition to the Nevada Black Book: Archie Karas.

He's a poker player who was caught cheating at blackjack and sentenced to 3 years. There must be loads of people who get caught cheating at casinos. Anyone know why he was entered into the black book?

I used the wrong word. Proud is better,DD.
I would be proud to be barred,a badge that I would have enjoyed."You are too good for us,play somewhere else".
Yeah a little lucky,too.

That shuffle-over would have got my attention also!

I have seen dealers watch the cards as she shuffled, too.
She was just trying to stack the deck with a bunch of small cards to deal them out, first.

HA! Reminds of a scene from a great movie..

"..So there I was at the Blackjack table with all my wash 'n' dries... did I tell you I had they idea for them first? Then they accuse me of cheating and they BAN ME, can you believe that? They ban me for being too good a player.."

"How much were you up?"

"well I wasn't, but I was about to...So yea, anyway, they ban me for being too good a player"

Sad to see someone who had the skills to play and win in a number of different exercises (he also shot pool for significant amounts of cash) thought he had to cheat to win after losing back the $40 million he had won.
I have played poker with Karas at the Commerce a couple of times. I was surprised that such a high roller pro was playing at such 'relatively' low stakes. Word at the tables was that he was broke. It was also rumored that he was known to mark cards.

DonDiego has no inside knowledge.

But one of vegasfire64's references referenced a Reuters story reporting:
"World-renowned professional poker player Archie Karas, has been arrested on charges of cheating and defrauding a casino after authorities say he was caught marking cards at a California blackjack table.

'This defendant's luck ran out thanks to extraordinary cooperation between several different law enforcement agencies who worked together to investigate and prosecute this case,' said county District Attorney Bonnie Dumanis.

According to prosecutors, Karas was spotted by surveillance cameras marking cards - using tiny smudges of dye secretly wiped onto the backs of jacks, queens, kings and aces - while playing blackjack in July at the Indian-owned Barona Resort and Casino in Lakeside, California."

how often do they swap out the cards?
That's a real shame. Sounds like the actions of a desperate man.
