Casino "Swag" (ie: collectibles)

I have a bunch of slot tickets that I found laying around... $0.01 up to $1.00 that I never cashed...

I also have 3 or 4 completely BLANK unprinted on slot tickets from Caesars and Rincon.
Las Vegas Sands baseball cap, 6 Sands Coffee Mugs, 1 Sands key chain. 2 LV Sands sweatshirts, 1 Fitz key chain, many old players cards, some card room keys, some $5 chips from various casinos, 20 silver strikes (10.00) Lots of old LV magazines, brochures from the 80's, 90's, 2000. A fun book from Mr. Sys (old timers will remember Mr. Sys) Maybe a big Caesars medallion (can't remember if i still have it.) This makes me want to look through the big box i have of LV collectibles. Lots of sweatshirts, T shirts from Vegas, now well worn.
Do scores of casino ATM and credit card receipts count as "swag"? 'Cause other than that I got nothin'.
My husband is a pack rat, so we have tons of stuff. A nice matchbook collection with a lot of the old casinos, silver strikes, coin cups, key chains, ash trays from the days when all the hotels had glass ones with logos on them, glasses, post cards, and lots of t-shirts. It's kind of fun to look through it sometimes, but it takes up a lot of space. k

My work friend has $1 chips from every casino he's visited. He's turned each one of them into Christmas ornaments for his tree. Its actually really cool. Its quite the conversation piece at the holidays
Like my LVA name implies, I collect vintage Las Vegas memorabilia. I really got hooked on the old ashtrays with logos, and have hundreds of them. My most valuable collectible (in terms of what I paid) is an ashtray from the Sahara which pictures a sphinx and the pyramids of Egypt. The ashtray collection inspired me to collect many other Vegas items; old room keys with fobs, paper coin cups (in use before the plastic coin cups came along), drink glasses with logos, swizzle sticks, matchbooks, slot glass, virtually anything with a casino logo. I display many of them in my home office, though I don't have room for them all. But I change things around a lot, so that I get to see all of them from time to time. Hopefully these pictures come thru....

Sorry......pictures didn't come through, I will try again.........
I will try one more time to post pics......sorry in advance if it doesn't work....

That's a pretty nice collection (and collection area in a room) there, vintagevegasfan. I'm presuming they are from your house....

DonDiego has collected several boxes of "Sands" casino coffee mugs, plus a box or two of misc Vegas coffee mugs (usually of casinos that are now defunct). I keep suggesting we don't need so many and maybe it's time to sell them on ebay, but his stock reply to me about reducing our "collection" is, "One can never have too many coffee mugs." I'm happiest when I'm getting RID of stuff, he's happiest when he's keeping stuff!
How could you possibly get rid of stuff like that, unless there are duplicates? great collection.

reminds me of the McDonalds Museum here in SoCal. its actually privately owned and started as a private collection and now open to the public on certain days. the owners also have a "collectibles store" selling toys, comic books, etc.

((at least I hope its still open... havent been there for about 6 years))

Also, the MOST expensive McDonalds collectible in the museum was... (ready for this)... an original strip of McD's handiwipes that they used to give out years ago. This is why I regret not keeping the old casino handiwipes that used to be everywhere until TITO came about.

Harrahs still has some that they have at the cages, but does anyone know if other casinos still have them?
