Casinoboss Answers Your Questions: Part III

Somone asked this ?, so I will bump this thread up.

CB - what is the best time of day/week to get a free upgrade?
Hey CB, enjoy your insight on casino matters. I have a question, which pops up quite often on various sites, and there never seems to be a definitive answer: With Ceasars [and probably with the others] comp programs, does it hurt your ADT to play at more than the one property within the group? Based on my experience it does not, others say Yes! it does...your thoughts? Thanks, Bob
There's not really a science to it, but common sense would dictate your best shot would be when the hotel is least occupied. So generally that's Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

By definition, ADT is time played x avg bet x house advantage x # decisions per hour so yes it would hurt you if you split your play up between various properties.

Caesars is probably the best at consolidating your play for evaluation purposes and probably have a cumulative ADT across all properties but I think most of all of the other conglomerates pretty much operate in a silo in terms of marketing. It's a difficult task to operationalize with the cost of the technology and the manpower you'd need.

CasinoBoss: The Cosmopolitan instituted an $80 "early check-in fee" for guests wanting room access prior to 3PM. They suspended that policy after a few short days after supposedly being swarmed by facebook, trip advisor and other forum posters complaining. How much time and consideration is put into these type of policies? I can't imagine why they considered it when most casino hotels in Vegas allow early check-in at no cost if rooms are available. I put this on par with the V/P cancelling comps 24 hours prior to check-in a few months back. Your thoughts?

stations did this a few years ago, although it was not $80. i dont remember how much it was or how much it lasted.

mgm currently has some weirdo thing where you can pay (i dont know how much) for some package-type thing that includes early check in.

theres a hotel i stay at in richmond that charges $10 to check in early. im happy to pay it there because all the other hotels there wont budge at all on early check in. but in vegas...its such a stupid thing to try and implement.

really......now let's see...one person has a reservation at Cosmo, another has a comped reservation at Palazzo. Person A arrives at Cosmo at 1PM wanting to check in early. They don't want to pay the $80, but they can check their bags and go have lunch or gamble or something and come back at 3.

Person B gets a call the night before they leave from a Palazzo host telling them that they are no longer comped, but they are quite willing to allow person B to pay $159 a night to stay at their resort that weekend.

yeah, that's exactly the same

signed, Person B

I've always thought that Vegas should offer 24 hour check in/out since people are coming and going at all hours. If you check in at 10am you check out at 10am. If you check in at 8pm then you check out at 8pm. Then offer an extra half day at half price so you can check in at 11am and then not have to check out until 11pm.
i got to vegas at like 4:30 am back in october and when i went to leave my bags with the belldesk at california, it wasnt open. so i went to the check-in-ling to ask her what i could do with my bag.

she tried to find me a room and there were none (i tried to actually book one but it was sold out and i guess no one had checked out before 4:30 am).

i love that she tried though, at that insanely early hour.

(ps - in case you are wondering the outcome - she kept my bag behind the counter until the belldesk opened up)

Wow kaypea, what an intelligent thought/idea.I'm impressed. It would make total sense to me to implement such a idea.
Unfortunately it wouldn't work for the simple fact it would wreak havoc with housekeeping. Having a few 1000 rooms to clean on a daily basis,i dont see how that could ever work.
Great idea tho. Maybe if you paid an extra fee for the "24 hour" deal or something like that.
