I think it would smooth out their workload across a whole day rather than trying to cram it into a single shift. I already see housekeepers well into the afternoon because of the "do not disturb" signs and wondering when they will ever be able to get in and service the room. In my younger days my sleep shift in Vegas was 9am to 4pm. Since Vegas is a 24 hour town there is already some need for all day housekeeping. Spreading out the check outs would eliminate the need to double up on housekeepers on the morning shift.

really......now let's see...one person has a reservation at Cosmo, another has a comped reservation at Palazzo. Person A arrives at Cosmo at 1PM wanting to check in early. They don't want to pay the $80, but they can check their bags and go have lunch or gamble or something and come back at 3.

Person B gets a call the night before they leave from a Palazzo host telling them that they are no longer comped, but they are quite willing to allow person B to pay $159 a night to stay at their resort that weekend.

yeah, that's exactly the same

Dear Person B: Yes really!! LOL

I put it in the same B.S. category. I file all of my B.S. in there. I don't smell each piece to see which one stinks more. I understand you taking it more personal (you are Person B after all) but If I knew a Person A and a Person B I'd tell everybody they both got screwed.

I think a casino/hotel has a little more obligation to honor their existing comp reservations than to allow people to check in before the official check in time. Now you might have something if the reservation stated check in time was noon and person A arrived at 1PM and was told they would have to wait until 6PM to check in or pay

it's my understanding that what Cosmo was doing was offering a guaranteed early check in for a price. meaning they would have a room ready for you at 1PM if that's when you said you were arriving. unpopular, maybe. Sneaky and underhanded, not really
Karen, There is a huge thread on Trip Advisor about it all. The OP over there was told at check-in that there was an $80 early check-in fee for anyobdy desiring room entry prior to 3PM even if rooms were vacant. The Cosmo provided room keys prior to 3PM and would then telephone you after 3PM to tell you your room number. I thought $80 was high since a lot of Las Vegas hotel rooms are less than that for a 1 night stay. As stated before, Cosmo has suspended this practice after a barrage of inquiries.

Could also allevite pressure on the front desk/check-in people.
Makes too much sense tho,i'll doubt it would ever be considered. UNLESS,the bean counters could find an extra nickel in it.

They suspended that policy after a few short days after supposedly being swarmed by facebook, trip advisor and other forum posters complaining. How much time and consideration is put into these type of policies? I can't imagine why they considered it when most casino hotels in Vegas allow early check-in at no cost if rooms are available. I put this on par with the V/P cancelling comps 24 hours prior to check-in a few months back. Your thoughts?

I can't speak for Cosmo but it'd be my guess that they saw a huge demand for early check-ins so thought they could monetize it especially since a big piece of their business is business travel.
