Ok, here's one for you. How do you feel about the Resort Fees the casinos are charging people to stay at your hotel? Do you feel that it scares off people from staying at your hotel and thus, cutting down the number of players that play at your casino? I have more questions, but I'll just go with this one for now.

No, I don't feel that they scare people off because, to be quite frank, they're essentially unavoidable.

I think if someone REALLY does their homework, they can stay at a fairly nice hotel that doesn't have the fee of find one that is really low. When you find a room rate on Priceline that is $20 a night then find out you have to pay $20 more a night when you get there for a couple bottles of water and a newspaper, I look even harder for a place to stay.

"essentially"

Why don't they just day "Rooms $55 per night" instead of "Rooms $35 Per night* ($20 nightly Resort Fee). Just be honest.

Is it to avoid taxes? Is the Resort Fee tax differently that the room tax? Does the hotel keep more money this way than not having the Resort Fee? The owner of The'D' casino was quoted on a podcast that he started to charge these fees so he could be on Page 1 on the search for cheap hotel rooms.

For me, I'll never stay in a hotel that charges these fees. There's WAY too many casinos across the country willing to take my money. I don't have to fly 1,500 miles go gamble.

Marketing. So you can advertise a lower rate.

You didn't answer my question. Is the Resort Fee taxed at a different rate by the state of Nevada and Clark County than the Room Rate tax?

I'll find out but the primary motivation is so you can advertise a lower rate.
What I think would be a good thing to do is organize everyone that's staying at a hotel that includes the fitness room as part of their fee, to go down there at, say 2:00 PM. When you cant get into there and work out, demand your fee back.

I think the primary motivation is to gouge and rip people off.
