Celebrate! Small gov't and fiscal responsibility on the way!

The Republican Congress is chomping at the bit to pick up where they left off under W. it remains to be seen how this agenda will be embraced by the Trump administration. But Republicans in Congress are letting their ambitions be known:

The egregious earmarks that Republicans took a moral, principled objection to under a Democratic administration are suddenly a valuable tool again. Government spending is no longer the root of all evil. The earmark ban will be voted to be lifted in the first weeks of Trump's inauguration.
Earmarks back in style again.

"Small Government" defense spending increases are a top priority for Republicans who are eagerly looking to remove the spending sequestration limits put in place under the Obama Administration.
More aircraft carriers, anyone?

The "Small government" Great Wall of Mexico is already being blue-printed as we speak. As are appropriations for massive personnel increases of the border patrol making it bigger than the FBI.
Gee Whiz! What does that cost?

But have no fear! The Republicans are promising to pay for all their small government spending with a tried and true method. TAX CUTS! And they'll be using an accounting method known as "dynamic scoring" to do their math. At its heart is the belief that cutting taxes results in more revenue because of increased economic activity. And that idea was born out in George Bush's balanced budget at the Federal Level....and more recently Sam Brownback's balanced budget in Kansas.
Tax cuts to pay for it all!

Good luck, America! We'll be winning soon enough!
PJ - still whining. Get over yourself.
Boiler agrees that both sides of the aisle spend too much. I'm hoping that Trump will fix much of this spending problem.
Tax revenues went up after the tax cuts. The problem was that spending went up even faster. Remember the democrats are the owners of the $1T deficits.

Reduce actual spending by 1% per year

Simple solutions for simple minds.
Does Hoops want to cut Social Security payments by one percent a year? Military spending?
Medicare payments by one percent a year? Federal employees salary by one percent each year?
As the U.S. population and economy is growing, hoops plan would look like this.
2016- population X, spending Y
2017 population X+2, spending Y-1
2018 population X+4, spending Y-2
2019 population X+6, spending Y-3
2020 population X+8, spending Y-4
So at the end of four years, with 2016 =100, we would have a population eight percent bigger trying to get by with four percent less resources.
Simply brilliant. I'm sure our military won't mind four years of pay cuts. Our Seniors can add meatless Thursdays to their calendar, and our schools can get by teaching more students with less money. Doctors make too much anyway. Tuition assistance? Let their parents pay for it.
so what % of government spending is "wasteful"?
Get all these young clowns with "bad backs" and marijuana cards off of SS disability. Obama opened this wide to all the hucksters and ambulance chasing lawyers. If you only paid a few hundred bucks your whole adult "employed" life into SS, you shouldn't be able to get $600 a month for a "bad back". Turn SS back into what it was originally meant to be, for retiring seniors to have a few bucks in their golden years.
Yes, let's crack down on these evil doers living the good life on their $600 a month.
That's our biggest problem.
I have a bad back. It's fine when I walk. I can even swim and play golf, but walk for ten minutes and then stand still and it locks up. A perfect example is grocery shopping. I'm fine walking the aisles, but if I have to stand at the cashier for more than a few minutes, it locks up. I suspect I'd have no problem getting SSI if I put in for it.
Like most liberals, billy assumes 100% of federal spending is not wasted. We know that not to be true

Hate to break it to you, but it is mostly uneducated white folks on disability. In other words, Trump supporters. If you have some sort of degree beyond high school, and even if you are physically reduced to being a mere a head on a platter, it is highly unlikely you will get it.
