Charles Town WV

Has anyone ever been to this town? It has a Hollywood casino and adjoining hotel. We have reservations here to meet up with relatives and was just wondering how it is. They also have
horse racing certain nights of the week. How is their buffet - do they have a breakfast one also?
Thanks
The Grand Buffet is pretty good but nothing special, prime rib was delicious. They have a ton of slots. The 2 days I was there I never hear a machine give out a big jackpot. The table games start at $25 and are generally full. Service is also nothing special there are very few waitresses working the casino floor. The poker room is good, has lots of tables and it was run efficiently. No tournaments just cash games starting at $1- $2. About the races, I know they had them when I was there but I don’t know much about it. It is the only casino in the area. Their hotel is a bit pricy but is the best in the area and the free morning breakfast is very good. They have rooms with balconies that overlook the racetrack if you like.
Table limits have gone down a bit since they opened, at least during the week. I imagine on the weekends during off hours they may go down. I am talking $15 for most table games but have seen craps for $10. I actually have seen and know quite a few ppl who have won on slots.
They can not by law give away alcohol, so be prepared to pay for drinks. They are at a discount. I have always had good CW service, but I also seem to end up at tables full of drinkers who tip well.
The hotel is nice Only stayed 1 time, nothing over the top but we had a reg. room. It was a comp so no complaints.
The buffet wasn't open for breakfast but we wanted room service anyway and that was very good.

Most weeks racing is Wed. - Sun.
They can't give away booze and the are in WV, the chemical capital of the US. What don't I get here?

If they are like the one in Indiana, the buffet should be ok.

They do for sure give out alcohol. All well drinks and draft beer. I have horses stabled there

At least they have discounted drinks. At Harrah's Rincon in San Diego, they charge you full price for drinks whether you're playing or not. When I ask them why they can't comp drinks, they shrug their shoulders and say "it's the law!" What really gets them is when I ask why they can't just charge a $1 for the drinks if the player is playing?" They really don't know what to say then. I've always wanted to go to the ABC (Alcohol Beverage Commission) and see if they really had a rule against "comped" drinks.

My bad, I am getting it confused with the Delaware casinos.
We were drinking bottle beer and call drinks.
I just called Charles Town Casino and YES, they have complimentary cocktail service!!

Phew, what a welcome surprise!!
