Cheap Eats for a Starving College Student?

Just moved to Vegas and as one might expect, I'm a little short on cash and have been trying to find some cheap restaurants. I don't really care about what type of food it is... as long as I can afford it

For now, I've been surviving on this buy 1 get 1 free promo deal at fatburger. Not bad a few times a week, but can get old after awhile.

Any advice would be appreciated...
Shrimp cocktail - golden gate $2.99
hot dogs - various $2.99
hamburgers - various $3.00 to $6.00
Tony Roma's - various dinners under $7.00
Buffets - Various under $10.00

Various means pretty much anywhere downtown.

Downtown and off strip places will generally offer the cheaper food items.
Call your parents send some money to gamble with . Get as many player cards as you can . Start getting comps.
Oh well just a thought . Call your parents and get some money and go out to eat at the places Chefantwon just recommended.

Honestly there are a lot of good deals. I for one like the 75cent hot dogs at South Point.
In my college days, there was a mexican restaurant called the Acapulco. They would have happy hour drinks where the margaritas were $1.50. They also put out an incredible spread of various appetizers, that were free.

I'd start checking on places that have Happy Hours.

When planning an excursion to "The City of Schools and Churches" DonDiego always includes thrift as a major influence on his trip planning. And that inevitably leads him to the Cheapo Vegas website.

venturemusic88 can explore this treasure chest of Las Vegas bargains at his leisure for all his needs while considering frugality as a necessary factor of college life.
But to address the specific question of cheap eats, DonDiego directs the reader to the sites interactive Cheapo Vegas Food Chart wherein the city's many beaneries can be compared employing the factors of casino, cuisine, price, location, quality, and swankiness.
There IS another route:

make it yourself

If one goes this route, one can save a boatload of cash IF they are willing to go the extra mile and actually get their hands dirty. If not, well its to ones wallet to decide.

and we have a winner!!!! if you are actually living there, why go out for every meal and eat processed food three times a day? they have grocery stores in las Vegas too

Two immediate thoughts....

1. Ellis Island steak special....not on the menu.....$7.99. Includes steak, potato, soup/salad and a beer.

2. If you have an iPhone, sign up for an app called Happy Hour. Will tell you at any point in time who has happy hours where and what it offers. Some killer deals floating every day.

Might have some more thoughts later but these two along with the other recommendations you received such keep you in the groceries for a few days.

Check out Mermaid's downtown for three dollars you can have an drink containing alcohol, a nathans hotdog , and a deep fried dessert.

Try the hot dog cart at Gold Coast--$1.25 and it's big and good.
