Christmas in Vegas...Anyone been?

One other thing to consider, my definition of cold or a Vegas locals definition of cold is probably different from someone who resides in the North East or Midwest.

I'm on the East Coast. So 60's would be nice and 30's would be normal. LOL

Thanks everyone. Thinking of coming in Christmas eve. Leaving New Year's eve.
Went about a week before Christmas a few years ago and got SNOWED IN. Airport was closed and had no de-icing equip, so we got an extra night in Vegas. Actually came back with more $$$ than would have thanks to delay.

Yes, that was Wednesday December 17 2008. I came in on the 18th...it was mostly melted. We should note that this is a rare event. They had a 'snow day' for the schools on Wednesday. It was their first since 1978.

I have been Pattie. If you want a distraction from the Holiday than Vegas is the place. It didn't feel like Xmas at all. The Wynn, Bellagio and Caesars decorated but thats about it. Tons of Asian people in town that week and no one wishing anyone a merry Xmas. Never really even heard much Xmas music playing. It was depressing and made me feel like I totally missed Xmas that year. Felt like any other Vegas Vacation which is always a good thing.

I know this will be a difficult Holiday because of George's passing. Vegas might be exactly what you need.
On the other hand ............. it will your baby's very first Xmas.
Anytime is a good time to go to Vegas. If you have the time off and the oppurtunity then I would go.

Spent the last 3 christmas holidays in Vegas. I love it there for Christmas.
No cooking, holiday decorations and music everywhere and just an overall festive atmosphere.

The only thing that will slow WAY down are the shows. After the 27th- it picks up considerable all the way through New Years Eve where it is sort of a Mad house-- but STILL so much fun and worth it.
This will be our second year to spend Christmas in Vegas. Our Daughter died Feb. 2009 and we just could not bear to stay home. We have no other family living near by. Last year we spent Christmas and News Year. New Year's eve was wild.
