Christmas in Vegas...Anyone been?

Pattie:

The first of any holiday (Xmas, Easter, Thanksgiving etc) that first full year is a tough one. As each year

passes it becomes a little easier. If you can go to Vegas and re-live some of your memories of when

you were there with George and his wife a couple of years ago. Keep smiling.

i go to vegas every christmas. a lot of people who are dealing with loss seem to find solace there. i am definitely one of them.

the only "downer" i think is the stupid christmas music. that stupid "ill have a blue christmas without you" song blaring in a casino as you are thinking about the one you are missing. hate that part.

but anyway - as far as weather goes...its different every year. ive been there during snow, rain, freezing nights, that year where it was 70 degrees at midnight......there is no standard although its usually cold at night. do not neglect to check the weather forecast before you go. i can not impress enough - you have NO idea what weather you are going to get until you are way closer.
We were going to go in late December last year but the airfares were outrageous if you get too close to Christmas and New Years Day. We ended up going the following week in January. Just another thing to consider when planning.
christmas airfare is kinda tricky because it can be really cheap or really expensive, depending on the dates.

i have flown on actual christmas twice and both times there were less than ten people on the plane. last year i flew to vegas on december 16 and there were seventeen people on the plane.

but coming home just after new years? ugh. sky high.

I know we've flown on Christmas Day and have gotten great deals at times. I know it's a day later, but we have found at times it's worth it.

Couple of years ago, we flew home SWA (BWI) and pilot as we were boarding said "pick your row", yes ROW. I think there were about 30 or so people and we had a ball.

Thanks Guys!

jenaphir..I agree with blue Christmas...It makes me sad here too..

Nanny....We have a lot of good memories from two visits with my brother in Vegas. We gave them our Condo last year and they loved it. I'm so happy we did that.

Looking more like we will be going. Just got to check with my boss and GM oh yeah and my dog sitter.
Temp is usually 60's during day and 30's at night.
Pattie when I booked my flight it was a bit tricky so I suggest you do that as soon as you know.
thanks carol
