Christmas in Vegas...Anyone been?

I go the week before XMas every year:

The Pros:
- Big Room discounts. (I scored the penthouse at Mirage for $120 two years ago)
- casino promotions galore as they all fight for the limited crowds. Look for 5X and even 10X slot points promos.
- Walk in to the restaurant of your choice - no reservations
- Comfortable weather (usually). Like October in New York.
- Great decorations and holiday music. Go to Fremont St at night - its a blast.

The Cons:
- Leave your swimsuit home
- Many shows go dark until New Years.
- Some places are simply dead
pjstroh,
How did you book the Penthouse?
Was it a normal booking on the web or did you arrange it through a host?
We are thinking about going to Vegas for Christmas again and I would love to have a big gathering spot instead of normal rooms.
Last year we had a room/suite at the Palazzo and that worked pretty good but a Penthouse sounds wonderful.

It was last minute. A few days before the trip I called and booked a suite which they were selling for $120. The lady told me she'd upgrade me to the Penthouse for free if I agreed to stay an extra day. That was a no brainer
Since it looks like a few of you will be there over the holidays, why don't you plan a meetup?

Ray

Thanks pjstroh.
I think I will book the way I normally do and then check on suite rates the week before we go.
Maybe we can have your same luck.

Looking more like we will be there.
We were there (3 yrs ago) when it snowed on Christmas
Day...

I LOVE Vegas at Christmas. We usually go every year as a combo school break/Christmas/son's B-Day trip. I prefer less crowding and don't mind quiet casinos. You should definitely go and lose yourself for awhile
Been there three or four times. Usually right after Christmas but before New Years. At least two of the times the waterfalls near Mandalay Bay's entrance had iced over. I only remember one day where it was overcast. Most days the sun was shining brightly. So if you were in the sun, it was fine. A jacket or sweatshirt would suffice. At night it definitely got a little chilly. Cold enough that you could see your breath. The crowds are not bad but start getting heavier the closer you get to New Year's Eve. We've always enjoyed that time of year in Vegas. Go and have some fun, you deserve it. Aloha.
This will be our fifth Christmas in Vegas, we started coming after a loss and it was lovely to get away
