The Clinton Archipelago

Since 2008 the democrats have lost their huge majorities in the Senate & House. They have also lost numerous governorships & over 900 legislative seats. They used to control most of the state legislatures, now they control only a small number.

Anybody notice a trend?

Hey pj, look how excited >>THIS<< guy was before the election about the Electoral College?
He couldn't contain his giddiness and was actually bouncing up and down in front of the map. /q]

Funny! I couldn't decide if he looked more like Richard Simmons or Howdy Doody.

If every vote counted equally, a vote in Wyoming would be as important as one in California.
How many visits did either candidate make to Wyoming? South or North Dakota? Montana? Utah?

Every vote does count "equally" in each State in accordance with the Constitution.
Effectively there is no "national" election, just as the Founding fathers intended. That's what the whole Electoral College is about - intentionally adding "power" within the Presidential Election to less populated States. The same reason the Congress has a Senate in which each State has 2 legislators regardless of population and the House of Representatives which is apportioned by population within each state.
The Constitution's authors conveniently included provisions by which The Constitution can be amended.

Campaign Events by Candidates:
There was one single visit to the States of Wyoming, South Dakota, North Dakota, Montana, and Utah.
The Hillary and Senator Kaine held 151 events in 14 States.
Mr. Trump and Governor Pence held 248 events in 25 States.

In 2016 it worked precisely as designed..

Dividing up electoral votes by state boundaries is nonsensical in the modern world. I dont know that a voter in Kansas City, KS holds different federal priorities from one in Kansas City, MO based on what side of the river they are on - and yet thats how their vote is grouped.

Likewise there are farmers in Massachusetts...and City folk in Indiana... and atheists in Tennessee....and Evangelicals in Hollywood. These people are all disenfranchised by a larger group they share a state border with. Wouldn't it be nice if these people actually figured into our election?

Every citizen of each State may move to any of the other 49 States as he wishes: i. to increase the value of his vote in his State's Presidential Contest or ii. to decrease the value of his vote in each State's Presidential Election or iii. for any other reason that pops into his head to include whatever interests farmers, city folk, atheists. evangelicals, and anyone in any special interest group or not in any special interest group may share or not share. Or he may stray put.

Ain't this Country great ? ? ?

If the popular vote determined the winner, republicans in California would have a reason to vote, as would democrats in Texas. I'd think anything that encouraged more people to vote would be desirable.

Umm..no, I disagree.I don't think they should count more but they should have a say.

Thats exactly what a democratic vote does.

I dont think you understand your own argument. You've both challenged and agreed with my point that all votes should count the same. Maybe you should figure out what your position is before contributing further.

Alright, I didn't say it correctly or ypu just took it out of context, ignoring the rest of my post, whatever.

Do you really think someone who lives in NYC all their lives have any idea exactly what the ranchers along the southern border have to deal with, drugs and groups of illegals traipsing through their land? I thought I made my point in my other post, you chose to ignore it. I also just read all of DD's post on the entire reason for the electoral college and it's really a brilliant solution. Remeber, this country is a Republic, not a true democracy, my mom made me very aware of that since I was a kid every time I said democracy.

The hill lost, live with it.
All you leftists need to do is get a constitutional amendment when you don't control either house, the people's house or the Supreme Court. Good luck with that.

We have to deal with one more month of Obamanation. And he will inflict huge damage before he's done. Can't wait to see his pardons and if he has the audacity of being a mope by giving Castro Guantanamo. Wish we could strip this fool of his phone and his pen.

The only person who should be happy with his presidency is Jimmy Carter....Carter may escape being the worst President in my lifetime.

Just get the country through 31 more days.

Hey! It's Alex Egoshin himself! I thought the TrumpLand map was equally cool...Being from Lake Fresno and all.
DonDiego thanks egoshin for the link.
