The far right's platform of demonizing the other candidate is not proving to be successful. Cases in point: 2008 and 2012. Maybe 2016 will be different, but I am skeptical.
And this is a year that pretty much anyone except Donald Trump would be a shoo-in as a Republican against a poorly regarded Democrat as the pendulum swings left and right predictably.
