College Football Player Unions

Obviously you missed what I wrote - see below. I would say that I await your apology, but no one is going to live that long.

As usual it just goes over your poor little head. While I'm not an NCAA fan, please stop making college athletes on scholarships to be victims.
I agree that the NCAA is a mess, but do not confuse revenue with profits. I understand that is a confusing concept for some. Here's a far more accurate view of athletic department "profitability".

Hmmm? Does a scholarship (especially to a private university) which includes tuition, room and board, and books, have no value?

Example: Notre Dame Tuition and Fees

So will all the other non-profitable sports that are supported by FB and men's BB be shutdown? Lacrosse, soccer, swimming, wrestling, volleyball, field hockey, etc.

I think it's safe to say that anyone who uses the "field hockey" argument doesn't give rats ass about field hockey.

What are you talking about? I've been to several men and womens college soccer games at many universities(Cornell, Penn State, Alfred and Hartick). The biggest crowd I saw as maybe 1500. I have not attended a field hockey game but the sports are on the same level. How the eff do you know what I care about? Have any of you thought about Title IX and effect of losing revenue for "other" sports? I think the NFL needs to pay to establish a "minor league" like baseball and not count on colleges. That would get kids paid that don't want or value a scholarship or don't belong in a university to begin with. I don't have a problem with a bigger stipend so kids can get pizza, clothes and more tattoos.

Ah, so it's from each according to his abilities, to each according to his needs. I disagree.

But if elite athletes at a elite universities are to be required to support the rest of the school on their backs, I say let the coaches and administrators go first, and live on the cash equivalent of a scholarship for a week or two. They'll be ready to renounce amateurism in no time.

Okay, how about Purdue baseball where I played ball?

Unbelievable. You really don't get it, do you?
I'm saying if elite athletes want to make money and not get an education have the NFL start a minor league. What I'm referring to with Title IX is that women fought for years to have available to them the same opportunities as men at college athletics. When you start paying all the male FB and BB players something has to go, the money to support those sports is greatly reduced. But the 2nd effect will be when the women's softball team gets shutdown, so does the men's baseball team to keep it equal. Field Hockey-Wrestling. Women's volleyball-men's volleyball. But if you think there are unlimited funds, I guess we can keep all sports and scholarships and send everyone a check too.
