The common sense of a mother

Yes, a mother needs common sense to look after her children. You can't make this stuff up.

LAND O'LAKES — A 16-year-old girl ran to the roadside trying to flag down passerby for help in the middle of the night. Deputies say a man she had met at a carnival three weeks earlier grabbed her arm and dragged her over the pavement.

Gregory David Haney met the girl in Niagra Falls, N.Y., while he was working the carnival, a Pasco Sheriff's report states. The girl's mother signed a letter giving her permission to travel with him and earn money this summer.

I think about when growing up and how a local traveling carnival would set up annually at the city park. Most of the guys setting up the rides and operating them (aka Carnies) were some of the grimiest, low life people I've ever seen. I would not be surprised if many of them were ex-cons. You are right. How could a mother ever consent to allow her daughter to travel with a guy like this?
I'd like to buy a traveling carnival when I retire. Unfortunately, I don't think Mrs. AlanLeroyII would go for it.

Sorry, but I have to defend the mother. If we can't trust our kids with carnies, then who can we trust?

Did a carnie write the article?

A priest?

Years ago I took my wife to a carnival. It was a bit chilly for the time of year, about 50°F. Paid my dollar for 3 balls at the dunk tank. The carnie started to taunt me. First ball missed the target by about 3 feet low. Second ball missed about 3 feet to the right. Third ball was a bullseye. The carnie was pissed, man. He was soaked and the wind was blowing. LOL. Those carnies all seem like extras from Deliverance.

98% of carnies give the other 2% a bad name.
Thanks for the reminder...its almost time to make reservations.
