Concealed carry

Hmm, interesting decision. i'm not opposed to some sensible gun regulations( I think it's pretty insane that someone on the do not fly list can still buy a weapon for example), but this one I don't think I agree with, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense, kinda like "gun-free" zones, one of the most retarded laws ever.

I guess if they busted some gang bangers who had a gun, they'd have an extra charge thrown on 'em, unless they're an illegal alien, then it probably wouldn't count in the safe cities.

9th Circuit Court of Appeals Says No Right to Concealed Gun Carry

" A divided federal appeals court in California ruled Thursday that there is no constitutional right to carry a concealed handgun, adding to a division among the lower courts on gun rights outside the home.

By a vote of 7-4, the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco upheld a California law that requires gun owners to show a good reason before they can get a license to carry a concealed handgun.

"The protection of the Second Amendment — whatever the scope of that protection may be — simply does not extend to the carrying of concealed firearms in public by members of the general public."

The court declined to say whether the Constitution protects openly carrying a gun in public. It said that question was not at issue in the case..."

Meanwhile in Idaho...I think this one is a little off, anyone who's carrying should be required to take at least a basic gun safety class to get a CCW.

No Permit Required: New Law Allows Concealed Guns in Idaho Cities

by Christina Coleburn

" Beginning July 1, Idaho residents age 21 or older will be allowed to carry a concealed firearm without a permit inside city limits.

Gov. C.L. "Butch" Otter has signed Senate Bill 1389 into law. It will relax the state's gun policy and remove permitting requirements for concealed carry. Prior to SB 1389, residents age 18 or older could carry concealed firearms without a permit outside of city limits. Open carry is already legal within city limits.."

Open or CCW is not the Constitutional issue. That is up to each State to decide.
We all have the right to own guns.Open carry is fine is some States, not in others.
Every gun owner should be required to pass/take safety training, anyway.

Watch out for California laws. It's gonna get much worse.

Scalia is dead. I suspect when we have a full court, future rulings on the second amendment won’t take the same radical expansionistic view of the second amendment they did during his tenure.

Letting people keep their rights is "expansionistic". Taking them away isn't really taking them away. Got it.

It would seem to poor old DonDiego the solution is to insure one has concealed one's weapon of choice sufficiently well that no one knows one is carrying a concealed handgun.

DonDiego's a'thinkin' the new Ruger LCR in .327 Federal is an excellent choice: Ruger

It has the advantage of a capacity of 6 rounds, as opposed to only 5 rounds in the .38 Special caliber.

That extra round might come in handy some day: Will Munny

Not Kalifornia.

I like myRuger SP101 .357 , the little lady can practice with .38 specials , and I with the .357 . A Hollow point in that caliber sure does have some serious stopping power ... Bob

ensure not insure. numbnuts.
Just a side note on this. It is the local police chief or sheriff who approves concealed carry permits in California. This ruling did not say that you MUST have some special need to get a CCW permit...only that you CAN be declined without 'Good Cause'. In the case of the Fresno County Sherriff...Margaret Mims...She has allowed "Self Protection" as a 'Good Cause'. She stated that this ruling will not change anything for her or residents of Fresno County as she will still approve reasons like "Self Protection" and "Second Amendment Right". Although approved at the local level the permit is valid throughout the state.
