Concise trip report

If anyone has a specific question, I'll do my best to give an accurate answer.

1. Our tower suite at the Mirage was nice, but not spectacular. Large but slightly dated.

2. I was impressed with the Quad's casino renovation. It looks like they are still in the process of adding a couple of nice restaurants. We ate at Guy Fieri's joint at the Quad, and it was outstanding. I also ate KGB's in the Quad, and it was disappointing.

3. Drinks at the Quad sports bars are expensive. $13.50 including tax for a double vodka tonic. I get the same drink in an equally nice joint at home for $3.50. Call me cheap.

4. Had dinner at Carmine's in Caesar's Forum Shops, and it was very good to excellent. It ran about $50 per head including tax and a drink or two. It's hard to have a meal at anything Caesar's for less than that.

5. We used to hang out mostly at the Casino Royale, but they only have one "standard" blackjack table, so we played far less than normal here.

6. Played BJ at these casinos: Mirage (5 hours), Caesars (3 hours) the Casino Royale (5 hours), Harrah's (2 hours), and The Quad (5 hours). We had some fun dealers, some boring dealers, but never a mean dealer. Some fast, some slow, but I don't really care about that. I mostly want a fun dealer who wants to laugh along with us.

5. Got my butt kicked the first night at the Mirage, made a nice come back on day two, and finished with a great 3rd day/night. I only wish that I'd have increased my average bet. I averaged only $15/bet, and cleared about $500. I must have consumed about 100 drinks at the BJ tables over the three days, thus my liver is bruised.

6. Southwest did a nice job as usual from Indy. Not an empty seat going to Vegas from Indy last Thursday, and the flight was maybe 85-90% full on our Sunday return. Both non-stops were on time.

7. We planned to golf at the Pauite, but logistical issues caused us to cancel. Bummer about that as I love the Wolf Course.

8. The Casino Royale Subway restaurant is packed with drunk people at 4:30 AM (I guess like the balance of Vegas at that time)? The drunks don't bother me, but the 20 minute line and one employee working did a bit.

9. We did a quick walk around the Linq entertainment area, but didn't get all the way back to the 550 ft tall Linq Ferris Wheel. They have done a nice job with all the restaurants and bars, although we were only window shopping.

10. Ended up ordering California Pizza to the suite on Thursday night and we were not impressed. Expensive and average.

11. Ate pizza from Flour and Barley in The Linq, and it was outstanding. I don't know the price.

12. The Thursday 6:45 PM taxi wait at the airport was 5 minutes, which was nice.
Great report, keep them coming!!!
Edited. I missed your pizza report on first read.

Yeah, California Pizza Kitchen is a chain.
Sorry the pizza disappointed.

Just a personal observation, having nothing to do with California Pizza: It seems that whenever I order multiples of pizza to be delivered (to work, for example), the quality is often not the same. Almost like they are slapped and packed together in haste. However, I'm sure your folks appreciated it and enjoyed it.

Glad you had two good gambling nights out of three, and enjoyed lots of drinks!

Thanks for the concise report :>) VEGAS yahoo.
As some wise person once said, "Pizza is a lot like sex............it's all different degrees of good."
