Cosmo casino, some first impressions

I had my 'Cosmo' at the Cosmopolitan late Sat night the first weekend it was open and liked the vibe of the place. Although it was packed, I didn't notice it to be any louder than any other casino. I walked around early afternoon Sunday, got a players card and saw some playable VP. I look forward to going back and I could see myself staying there.

Do they do anything special for their "Cosmopolitan cocktail" or is it basically the same as you would get at any other hotel?

wow, not even close to Ballys or Rio or anything else. Ballys and Rio vs Cosmo are about 40 years apart, if you can accept that interpretation.

I was talking about the noise level at Bally's in comparison to your report on the Cosmo. Bally's is also very loud because of the bands. You can't hear the dealers.

First, I've been looking forward to saying I had a Cosmo at the "Cosmo." It's probably larger, definitely larger than the ones served in the diamond lounges.

I'm going to wait until next year before rendering a final verdict. I went opening night and the day after and .. well you can guess what the crowds were like. Still, I liked it, even though I'm not somebody they are catering too.

The Riviera it most certainly is not. If you want a sleepy casino atmosphere with elevator music then the Cosmo is going to disappoint. Having said that I dont think I would put it in the same league as Hard Rock or the RIO. The Cosmo strikes me as a more upscale property geared for a more upscale clientele (upscale is my polite word for "snotty"). I dont think you are going to get the Spring Break crowd from MTV hanging out here barfing in the pool like you do at the Palms and Hard Rock....its more like the trust-fund-baby crowd from Southern California. Mercedes just turned 21 and she's taking daddy's Ferrari to Vegas to celebrate ! Yea !

I'm positive my level of play wont show up as a blip on their radar screen...and I'm positive my jeans and t-shirt attire wont get me into any of their clubs...but I still liked it anyway. And the comped Black Russian with Grey Goose is enough to make me pop in every time I walk down the strip.

I read on another website that the sofas in the rooms are all "pull out beds" to allow multiple 20-somethings to share the cost of the $300+ per night rooms. Yep, they want the young pretty crowd, and trying to make it affordable for them to party there.

I think when rooms are designed to be shared like that, it also means trouble is brewing.

When I was that age, only the folks that had rich parents could even realistically take a shot looking like a millionaire. Granted, here in Ohio it's one hell of a lot easier to do. However, one does need certain necessities (car, clothes, and a few bimbo's). In Vegas, I would mulitiply that by at least a factor of a few hundred due to the LA types that come over for the weekend.

To have a casino that caters to rich 20 somethings, is going to make for a very short lived casino as it's going to get real boring real quick without cheap stuff to keep the folks busy.

Seems like the Hard Rock is still around, and they've been open for what....17 years or so!
My girlfriend and I were there 2 weeks ago. We didnt have any problem with "loud" music or 20 somethings running wild in it, like a Rehab party. What we encountered was a beautiful new casino, better then whats happening with Fountainbleu and Echelon. Dont listen to one persons opinion and stay away from it- check it out for yourself and make your own decision. I am in my 40's and was wearing a light jacket and jeans and AMAZINGLY I didnt get rolled by the 20 somethings and tossed back out on the strip
I wasnt bothered by the 20-somethings either. but when I play craps, I dont want the guys pressing the dice to their girl's lips for a kiss. I dont want shooters ordering drinks and asking the CW what brands they carry, and I dont want the yelling and screaming to players from one table to another talking about how each other is doing and what they are drinking. LOL

and then, I dont need the loud music.

but if thats where you want to be... go for it!! enjoy!!

Pull out beds, eh? I can think for other reasons for those bad boys and they have nothing to do with sleep....well maybe when your done with her.

Oh great, damn, I thought I trimmed my horns.
