Cosmo counts odds bet at Craps

Just to let all craps players know that according to the pit bosses at the craps tables, Cosmo counts the odds portion of your bets. So for the pass line and come line players, this is good news.

7 tables, and bouncy. Table mininum $5.00 to $25.00. All tables openned on Sunday (Dec19) afternoon but only 2 tables had players.

How many x odds? 3,4,5?

My friend AhhCraps, good to know youre still with us! It has been awhile.

Perhaps you dont recall that about a year ago Caesars also started to include the odds bet towards comps and tier scores. For years they didnt. I am sure that is the same at the rest of the Harrahs (ummm, I mean Caesars) properties.

Mandalay Bay also counted odds bets. In fact, Mandalay Bay would even count both pass and DP and come and DC if you happen to be a doey-dont player because there is an edge on both bets.

But more importantly... we need a report on the table conditions there-- length, bounce, crews, table limits. Fire bet or other exotic bets?

I would really be curious if they have the fire bet since Caesars (HET) bought the company that created it and marketed it a few months ago.
Ooohhhh I'd be very happy with that. Last place I played that counted odds bets and had limits $10 or lower was IP before Harrahs bought it. I typically play pass line with 3-5x odds, and up to 3-4 come bets. With a $5 pass line and odds, I walked away from that IP table after 4 hours with a few hundred dollar win as well as nearly $150 in comps. Very nice and allowed me to take some friends out to dinner and still have left over for room service. I don't expect Cosmo to be generous like that, but rating $60-100 on the table at a time vs. $10-20 at a time is a big deal. Coming from a place that nice, its gonna be a big deal in terms of room mailings and so forth.

Great to hear this news. As all craps players know, the odds bet is the very best bet on the table. It's one of the only reasons I used to visit the Casino Royale when I was in town - it had 100x odds available. Other than that, the Plaza at downtown and Sams town used to be about the best with 10x odds or similar. You're right that a rating of $60 - $80 a time is much better than $10 - $20 a time... you will get considerably more room and gambling offers at that higher range.
dont get me started about the odds bet. if youre not lucky its a sure way to lose a lot of money very quickly. a high roller friend of mine asked me to meet him one night at Casino Royale so he could "take advantage" of the 100x odds. he bet $10 DC and DP with 100x odds (thats a thousand dollars per) and in the blink of an eye lost 25K.

Im going to say this and say it again: there may be no house advantage on the odds, but there is no player advantage either.

Your kidding right? Higher the odds bet lower the house advantage, the math says its so and the ONLY thing that

isn't bias in this world is MATH.

Also your friend is a MORON! Betting 1k a roll with only a 25k bankroll is plain stupid PERIOD, he should read a

book about money management!

Money is 6/5 BJ the same as 3/2 BJ because there is really no advantage to the player by your logic.
OK Maddy. Here we go.

First of all, my friend isnt a moron. Like I said, he is a high roller. He has hundreds of thousands of dollars in his gambling budget. He was staying/playing at Mirage, and asked me to meet him at CR for some "fun." His "fun" cost him 25K which was enough to make me choke but not him.

Secondly, I know what the "math says" about how odds reduce the HA. But its just like in video poker, if you dont have the bankroll, (as you pointed out), betting lots of odds does not help you.

Here's why:

Lets say you are a right way player. No matter what odds you bet, whether they are 1x or 100x or 1000x, the house is still MORE LIKELY TO WIN each and every pass or come bet you make.

For example: on the point of 4. The house has a 3 to 1 chance of winning your bet-- each and every time. Yes, the "odds" say you will win one out of three times and therefore you will BREAK EVEN on the odds. But (and this is why the casinos love the odds and why the casinos are so rich) even if you do win one out of three times, they will still make a profit on the flat bet on the point of 4 -- because the odds say you will win it one time, and the house will win it two times.

So lets say the point of 4 is played three times with a $10 flat bet and 100x odds:

You win one time -- profit $10 odds win 2,000
second time you lose -- loss $10 odds lose 1,000
third time you lose -- loss $10 odds lose 1,000

results: pass line negative $10 odds break even

So lets go over the basics again: the house has NO advantage on the odds. And the player has NO advantage on the odds. At best over time (yes, long term play) you and the house BREAK EVEN on the odds and the house comes out ahead on the flat bet.

In the meantime, if the four doesnt win one out of three times while YOU are at the table (like the math says it should), the house can be WAY AHEAD on your odds betting as well as your flat bet.

Now, Im going to ask you this: do you bet 100x odds at CR ?? And do you consistently?? And why not? Probably because there are few of us who over time want to risk that much money to win so little. So little? YES!! Because there is no player advantage on the odds just as there is no house advantage on the odds.

Big odds (the backline bet for the pass and come bets) is nothing more than a lure to get you to lose more money over time. In fact, gaming statistics show that the average odds bet in Vegas is 2X odds.

Let me just remind you of this: there is NO way to beat the casino at the game of craps using MATH. Math will not win the game of craps. Math can help you in poker, and video poker and blackjack. But NO math will help you in craps.

And while mentioning blackjack, please dont insult me with stupid comments like "Money is 6/5 BJ the same as 3/2 BJ because there is really no advantage to the player by your logic." I never said such a thing or implied such a thing. Why create false comments? You want to talk about craps, talk about craps.

(edited to fix my odds payouts)
Actually, that was a great statement: "there may be no house advantage on the odds, but there is no player advantage either. "
I do like the option of taking higher odds, but if the dice aren't going your way, you just lose more.
If you put $10 on the line, your expected value never changes, no matter how much you put behind as odds. Your expected loss stays at 14 cents no matter what.
