Cosmopolitan review

Airline: Southwest
Rental Car: Dollar
Hotel: Mandalay Bay and Cosmopolitan
Restaurants: Strip Steak, MB Buffet, Comme Ca, Milos, Cosmo buffet, The Henry
Special Notes: look for “*****” for special hints

Rental Car:
Dollar rental car have decent rates, I have re-booked 2 days earlier to much lower rate. I ALWAYS keep checking rates for hotels and car rental – you can always cancel if cheaper rates come up.

Hotels:
MB, two comped nights, arrived late and was pushed to TheHotel – which was nice; but I had already valeted the car at MB... The Hotel is showing its age. Still one of the Best lobby Areas –but the rooms and no HD TV. I think they are re-modeling rooms and we have one of the older rooms.
MB casino floor still not crowded, always liked playing there. Ceilings are high, not Smokey. The center bar was packed both nights we were there.

Cosmopolitan
Used my “industry discount” to secure 3 nights are a very low rate.
Upon driving into the parking garage you have a feeling of grandeur. Floor was painted and just LOVED the red, green lights for parking spots. This is the simplest and best solution for parking garages in a long time. Green open space, red space occupied. There seemed to be many spots available -it was worth the cost of the rental car, just to drive around and park
***** There are 2 towers for the Cosmo and 2 separate elevator shafts in parking garage. When first checking in you need to go to West elevators to get to lobby. The east is the tower closest to LVBlvd – but until you have your room, you do not know where to park. Select west elevators first and move your car later (if you are in East lot)
***** If you are in the East tower: there is a separate entrance from LV blvd, road is just before the casino.

Cosmopolitan Rooms and Casino
Move over Wynn you have been replaced.
NEVER thought I would say that; but this place is stunning. The check-in area has columns covered in HD led panels that change design, you sign your folio on an ipad (embedded into the front desk) using your finger (no stylus or pen).
The Chandelier is amazing, and the overall Hotel design makes sense. Most of the restaurants are on the 3rd floor – they have sitting areas there, free pool table and all of them have patios for outside seating looking onto LV Blvd. the second floor have a couple more lower end restaurants and the first floor has the 24hr. restaurant. ALL makes so much sense. The buffet is one second floor and is away from all the other places. Casino floor is long and thin; but never was over-crowded. There are very nice slots, modern and many penny slots. I even found a cool 5 card stud poker machine. There are 2 identity locations. Casino Floor is great, closer to the front has glass, windows and great for people watching.
***** If main identity desk is busy (this is the one closest to the West Building), there is another closer to the front of the casino.

Rooms
Move over Palazzo you have been replaced.
I have pictures posted – but they all have Kitchen areas, coffee makers (you have to buy the coffee pods; but for $5.00 you get 2 pods for Coffee, 2 for decaf and 2 for tea) Microware (bring your popcorn).
TV’s are all interactive, you can control lights from your remote – was SO cool teasing the GF by dimming the lights in the bathroom. Pictures posted. There is a pod there to hook up your laptop to the tv, or Ipod etc. Then there is the Terrace, what can you say to be able to sit outside, read a book, get the sun right from your room. I Cannot wait till summer and sleeping with door open.
Now all this technology may be imposing for most – but you have a number to call for assistance.

Summary (will continue later with restaurant reviews)
Ratings
MB casino: 4 out of 5
The Hotel rooms: 4 out of 5
Cosmo casino: 5 out of 5
Cosmo rooms: 5 out of 5
Yes the casino trends towards the younger crowd. It does have louder music than other casinos and the Live band at weekend (in sports book area) was loud (but you can always move to another place). The better part of the crowd – very nice looking people.
If you seek a slower, more subdued place, Encore is the place.
The cosmopolitan have done this so much better than Aria. The casino is inviting, separating the Restaurants works very well and the rooms are amazing. It is such a cool, exciting place and now our new “base casino”.

I was also curious so I looked it up and the lowest I saw was some weekdays in July for $140, and in some previous months $160.

Wow. We have different tastes.

I thought the Cosmo casino looked to be very small. I wasn't impressed by its decor either.
We had a AAA rate of $108.00 for Monday and $128.00 for the Tuesday, from marriott.com
I was also very impressed with everything about the Cosmopolitan. But I think it would take more gambling than I am willing to give to get comped there. The room my friend was in was the wraparound terrace suite. super impressive. The chandelier bar was impresive. Wish I had had the chance to try out all three levels and all 3 specialty cocktail menus
Cosmo looks good to me. Can't wait to see it.
LVA offers the Cosmopolitan deal with complimentary breakfast for 2. The lowest rate is $150 in July, but averages around 200-220 throughout the year. https://www.lasvegasadvisor.com/deals/
Thank you for the TR. Very good and I can't wait to go and stay there in Sept.
