A Country of Waiters

Any country which requires such a significant increase in positions in the food/beverage service industry must be doing well.

Ref: Low Wage Jobs Dominate
My manufacturing plant has gone from 1800 employees in 1987 when I started to little more than 600 today. But I can say that 3 Applebee's have been built within a 30 miles during the same time frame.
You give tax breaks and benefits to corporations who ship manufacturing jobs overseas, and this happened? Who could have predicted?
Hmmm...since 2009 it seems like both lines rise at the same rate....

But There's a really simple solution to this problem -
Simply reclassify fast food workers as "manufacturing workers". Its pure Genius.

I'll drink to that chart DD
Here's one for the ages...........my plant just started to make a small part in small quantities for a company I cant mention.......and we send it to China! How many companies can say they ship product to China, of course it does make me wonder if I am in a profession that is so under paid that even the Chinese make more!

My brother built an electronics plant in China about 8 years ago. Before doing so, he also visited Romania, Mexico, Bulgaria, some island country that I can't recall, always looking for the perfect business climate. He would have built the plant in Mexico if not for one thing. It's terribly expensive to exit a business or to shrink a business in Mexico because of employee protections. Liberals love the concept of employee projections.

That China plant is going strong with 120 employees, and this plant would be going strong in Mexico if not for these employee protection laws. This law, which was written to save jobs, single handedly kept my brother from building this plant in Mexico. Added expense and risk always costs jobs to move or begin elsewhere.

To grow American jobs, corporate taxes should be lower, regulations should be less, the government cost to fire an employees should be less, and doing business overseas should not be taxed. All of these costs chase away business.

Shorter Boilerman: America should be more like China...because Mexican workers have it waaay too good.
If it's cheaper to make stuff in America then there will be more companies making stuff in America. More stuff being made equates to more good jobs.

Our company built a plant in China. They stole our intellectual property. Built and sold parts on their own. Even after dissolving partnership they continue today. Plants in China will dismantle equipment made in U.S. measure parts, test for material and then make their own parts. They have no intention of paying U.S. prices for parts and no concern for future business or relationship. With one finger salute asking United States company, what will you do about it? Use China's legal system? HaHa.
