A Country of Waiters

Once we get really good at building Robots, we won't have to manufacture anything else. They'll build everything for us in intelligent, fully automated, flexible manufacturing and food production centers. They'll even be able to manufacture new waiters.

Boiler agrees that China's government has little interest in protecting United States intellectual properties, such as patents. I also believe that some Chinese companies can be trusted as I've done business with the Chinese for the past 20 years.

Our company built a plant in China. They stole our intellectual property. Built and sold parts on their own. Even after dissolving partnership they continue today. Plants in China will dismantle equipment made in U.S. measure parts, test for material and then make their own parts. They have no intention of paying U.S. prices for parts and no concern for future business or relationship. With one finger salute asking United States company, what will you do about it? Use China's legal system? HaHa.

Really? More McDonald's hamburgers has resulted in more good jobs?

I don't think even you believe a lot of the stuff you spew. And you'll believe anything.

Oh my. I'll clarify it for you. Most manufacturers are involved in an international market for their goods. They compete against foreign imports, and they compete with foreign companies when American companies export.

Let's use crude oil as an example. An oil grade, meeting certain specifications, sells for a specific price. The foreign competition doesn't care why someone's price is high. There is no forgiveness if it's due to expensive union employees, expensive regulations, expensive taxes, expensive anything. If one is not equal or better in price, one does not get the business.

That's how it works, Forkie. I do it every day.

This thread reminds me of the lyrics from the Roger Waters song "Home":

Roger Waters - Home

When they overrun the defences
A minor invasion put down to expenses
Will you go down to the airport lounge
Will you accept your second class status
A nation of waitresses and waiters
Will you mix their martinis
Will you stand still for it
Or will you take to the hills
Future Waiters of America
