Cubs Win ! ! !

DonDiego found out this morning that the Chicago Cubs had won the 2016 World Series.

Congratulations Cubbies !

However, DonDiego would be negligent not to mention that the "Cubs Winning the World Series" has been considered by some to be a sign of the End Times.

And the last year the Chicago Cubs won the World Series in 1908, umm, there were some scary occurences, . . . like The Tungusta Event:
"The explosion near the Podkamennaya Tunguska River on June 30, 1908, flattened some 500,000 acres (2,000 square kilometers) of Siberian forest. Scientists calculated the Tunguska explosion could have been roughly as strong as 10 megatons to 20 megatons of TNT -- 1,000 times more powerful than the atom bomb dropped on Hiroshima.
The longstanding theory regarding the cause of the event is a cosmic impact from an asteroid or comet. In the last decade, researchers have conjectured the event was triggered by an asteroid exploding in Earth's atmosphere and measuring roughly 100 feet wide (30 meters) and 617,300 tons (560,000 metric tons) in mass -- more than 10 times that of the Titanic.
But recent supercomputer simulations suggest the asteroid that caused the extensive damage was much smaller."

DonDiego counsels the concerned reader not to worry, . . . it's pr'bly nothing to do with the End Times.
I moved to Chicago's NW suburbs in 1962, and lived there with my parents and brothers through my college years. I became a Cubs fan in 1968, and have been waiting for this moment ever since. What a great and crazy finish to the series, although I do feel badly for the long suffering Indians fans.

Someone had to lose and continue to suffer. Cubs fans appeared a lot different than the usual baseball fans. Never saw so many elderly folks at a baseball game...
There will be a huge spike in funerals these next few months in Chicago. All those people who said, "I will see the Cubs win the World Series before I die", can finally let go

Young Cubs fans celebrating

Snidely, these fans are quite young. If you're looking in the stands for a World Series game, you're certainly going to see an older crowd. How many 22 year olds can pop $3000 for a ticket? Not many.
