David Mckee's Story on Plaza Reopening

For those who are thinking about staying at Plaza next trip may want to read this. Interesting read.

Stiff's and George's
David Mckee is a hack. Instead of getting off his ass and visiting the Plaza and writing about his personal experience, he's content to form his opinion based on the review of some dude named Hunter Hillegas. I could have written that story from Fresno.
McKee is no hack. He was writing about media coverage of the Plaza's opening, an interesting subject, since the media's impressions will impact the public's subsequent conclusions. It's his blog; just because he wrote from a different perspective than you'd prefer doesn't make him a hack.

By your standard, Walter Cronkite's a hack because he didn't report on Apollo 11 from Tranquility Base.

McKee will get there soon enough to give his own thoughts, count on it.
Yeah, right. I don't recall Cronkite reporting the Moon Landing as:

"And here's what Chet Huntley had to say about Today's moon landing." That would have been a hack move.

And if the purpose was to write about "Media Coverage" of the Plaza opening then why did 80% of his article consist of quotes from a single source, Hunter Hillegas? He was lazy and he phoned it in. Anyone could do that. It's harder to actually create your own content...but a lot more valuable to your readers than spinning someone else's efforts. In this case we would have been better served if he just linked to other's coverage, since he provided no real value add.

Completely agree alan. I couldve written that from here,VA. Ive been follwing the plaza as closely as i can cause were staying there. I think e erything looks pretty cool, cant wait to get there.

All right guys, back away from the urinals. I think I'll wait til some of the trusted LVA members post before I'll form an opinion about the Plaza.
I used to read Hunter Hillegas's blog. Unless there has been a drastic change, that guy has his head so far up Wynncore's butt that he is not going to like of any casino/hotel not named Wynn or Encore. He used to write about Venetian/Palazzo like it was a motel 6
I stayed Dt on Aug 31- Sept 6th, went into the Plaza on the 31st and right away at 6 am on the opening on the 1st. They had local news coverage reporting at the 6 am news from in front of the place. Nothing at all going on inside, very few people there. I was staying next to the Plaza so I was in there everyday for a week. First off hardly anything is open, the Mcdonald's there not open along with the 2 new places Zaba's and Gigi's Cupcakes, not open. The third floor haircut place not open. I went to place a bet on the 1st " grand opening " day in the sports book and they had there big screen tv's there on the floor unplugged and I was unable to watch the preseason football game that I placed a bet on for that evening. I overheard a Mgr. speaking to an employee of the book stating that on grand opening we are unable to have our TV's up and running? They had small tv's working behind the counter. Up on the 5th floor the pool was only about 1/4 full of water and the tennis courts were unuseable because of remodeling going on, the place had all kinds of const. material laying all around looking very junky. I was staying the the LVC and had access to all the Plaza's ammenities, but there were none to be had, even went into the 7th floor laundry room where the 7th floor ice machine was being stored, two young guys came in stating they were staying there and so far they have tried unsuccessfully getting ice on 4 floors. When you go from the south tower to the 5th floor pool area, that little hallway leading out is suppose to have a concession area and workout area etc. well that was all ripped apart and big garbage cans full of old debris just laying around. Suffice to say that maybe the " rooms " were done, but nothing else. I did return on the 2nd to redeam my sports bet, and the tv's were up and running then. I meandered in and out of the Plaza for a week and it will be awhile till everything is open. That's my take on there Grand Opening!!
Wow that is bad Lee. Seems like they should ahve waited a little longer before they opened.

Still want to check the place out when it opens though.

Why? Number one, this guy writes like he's on the rag. Number two, it contains very little info about the accommodations.
