Come this September, THE hotel at Mandalay Bay will become The Delano Hotel. This will be an upscale boutique hotel and the prices will generally be higher (starting at $239 a night) than what THE hotel charges. It will be a sister hotel to the one in South Beach, Florida. They have even changed the name of THE hotel on the outside of the building to "Delano".
I actually liked staying at the hotel during the recession because I could get a beautiful room for a little more than $100. Of course the prices of rooms have increased since the recession.
The new decor is generally going to be white and off-white. While it may look chic when it first opens, I can only imagine what it is going to look like a few years from now when the normal wear and tear takes place on the room.
