If CowboyKell is rejecting Social Security benefits on principle, DonDiego salutes him.
On the other hand, if the benefits are available Cowboy Kell might consider accepting them and then giving them to charities that do good works. It would be more beneficial than letting the Government hold onto them, . . . or, since there is no "SS lock box" and monies are fungible, waste them on inefficient-or-ineffective-or-inappropriate Government programs.

Now for the rest of the story.......I am not yet of the eligible age for SS benefits.
When I do reach that age I will most likely apply to receive what I am eligible for dependent on the advice of my accountants. Reallocating the benefit funds would be much more efficient than leaving them with our U.S.Govt.

Or even worse ! The government might pay Cowboy's benefits to someone that blasts the "welfare state" despite accepting the check they get from it.

I see hypocrisy in many things and many actions, even my own. However, I don't really see hypocrisy in accepting SS while speaking out against it. Not accepting SS as a matter of "principle' goes unnoticed, and your "statement" is wasted. Even if a large or VERY large group of people refused their benefits the federal Govt. wouldn't even notice. The money would just be wasted somewhere else.

DonDiego assumes that pjstroh is referring to DonDiego.

DonDiego opposes the idea of a welfare state. Nonetheless the welfare state is here. They didn't listen to young DonDiego's objections.

DonDiego would prefer to opt out of the welfare state. But the welfare state does not allow him to opt out. If one does not contribute to the welfare state one cannot work within the welfare state.

So the welfare state confiscates a portion of his paycheck, . . . every paycheck for his entire life, . . . (and poor old DonDiego has held a job every year from the age of 15 until he retired; he was never unemployed; he never received unemployment benefits), . . . and so DonDiego accepts the payments promised.

Damn well right, he does ! He didn't ask to participate; he was forced to participate, . . . and now he'll accept every penny to which he is entitled.

Oh, . . . and by the way, . . . when poor old DonDiego's physician closed his Private Practice upon the arrival of Obamacare, teechur and DonDiego had to find a new family physician. If teechur and DonDiego had not already been enrolled in and paying for a health insurance plan in addition to the welfare-state-provided Medicare they would have been turned down by most private practitioners. It's not even a very good welfare state.

"It's not even a very good welfare state."

Can we get an Amen???

(Oops, that 'Amen' is prolly gonna cause a whole lot of problems. Sorry about that.)
I see the Hillary camp and the Sanders camp are anxious to know if Biden is going to throw his hat in the ring. I can't even imagine he would ever consider doing it. He has so many past gaffes, including some that are very racist, that he would be destroyed if he became the Democratic candidate for POTUS.

If that was determin wether a candidate could become POTUS or not you should really start to worry. Because by this logic Trump and Carson don't stand a chance.

I think you better be very worried about Trump. I also think you better be very worried if Biden was to become the Democratic candidate.

I'm not worried about Trump. He's not going to make it, America has more brains than that. All Trump has done is make a lot of noise and tell everybody again and again how incredible he really is. He offers no real solutions. I refuse to believe there are Americans out there who actually believe there will be a wall between America and Mexico and Trump is going to have Mexico pay for it. Really, think about it for a minute. It sounds really badass but we know it's never going to happen. And for everybody who does believe this nonsense, more power to you. Now, let's go to foreign policy. Do you really think Trump is going to impress world leaders like Putin or the Chinese with his Donkey Kong behavior? A man like Putin has more experience in running major corporations, running a country and as commander in chief than Trump will ever have. The only thing Trump would accomplish internationally is safety issues for this great country. He speaks before he thinks which is not very diserable when handling international conflicts.

I seemed to miss your point of why Biden would be qualified on any of this. You obviously don't live in California, or you would probably have some different thoughts about illegals.
