Demolition Begins at Downtown’s La Bayou Casino

I knew it was going to happen, but I am still surprised. Not sure why?

Demolition Begins at Downtown's La Bayou Casino
I understand that in this business things must change, but it is sad to see each time another old joint is demolished. I sure hope that the new owners do something good with that section of Fremont street. and by all means, they MUST preserve and include all of that classic neon. overall, I do like what they did with the D. the décor, the vibe, the eye candy, the energy, the vintage area upstairs. now if they would just turn the music down.
I just hope they don't turn downtown into another strip with huge mega resorts.

I think it depends on your definition of "mega resort."

I doubt that there will be another resort as large or larger than Golden Nugget.
It will most likely be a long time coming but the entire block where Vegas Club/Mermaids was will be one resort/casino. About the size of the current TheD.
The overall nature of Fremont street won't change anytime soon.
